This June 16th Special Edition features events that were still being finalized when we sent our previous newsletter. We hope you can join us for some of the amazing professional learning we've lined up for the next few months, but – most importantly – we hope you'll have a chance for personal renewal and restoration this summer.

Summer 2022 Professional Learning

Education 580-50:
Sexuality and Identity in the Classroom

In this virtual course, instructor Angie Foster-Lawson, MEd will explore the role of teachers in cultivating positive self-concept in students. Participants will gain a foundation for a broad understanding of human sexuality that allows them to respond effectively to students and families in a way that affirms the identity and integrity of each student and all families.

 

July 11-25
Mondays and Wednesdays
5:00-8:00pm

 

Upon successful completion  participants will receive 1 graduate credit from Pacific University AND

$500 stipend provided by the WREN.

Coaching for Equity 101

In this virtual course, participants will:

  • Build foundational equity literacy to increase our learning and reinforce what we know and consider for our organizations.
  • Identify and generate actions related to common inequities in organizations.
  • Learn and practice conversations centered on equity using the tools and practices of Transformational Coaching.
  • Boost our courage for working with triggers and having conversations centered on equity.

 

August 3-4

8:00–10:00am & 11:00am–1:00pm

 

Participants will receive a $500 stipend for successfully completing the series. Fees for registration and materials are also covered.

Coaching for Equity Masterclass

In this virtual course, participants will:

  • Ground in the identities and beliefs with which they lead.
  • Learn new strategies to compassionately interrupt inequities.
  • Identify ways to explore and shift beliefs in a coaching conversation.
  • Deepen their will and commitment to interrupt, and build resilience to do so.

 

August 9-25

Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00am–1:00pm

 

Participants must have or acquire Coaching for Equity and The Art of Coaching Workbook before the course. Participants will also receive a $600 stipend for successfully completing the series.

Education is a physically and emotionally demanding field, and successful educators must intentionally develop their own resilience to thrive. This four-hour workshop will provide anyone in the education field with the tools to do just that, drawing from principles in Onward by Elena Aguilar.

Whether your school team is just beginning to think about equity or has been doing this work for years, building affirming schools requires successfully coaching for equity. In this workshop, participants will learn to pursue a more just, equitable school system using transformational coaching tools from Elena Aguilar’s best-selling books.

Design Your Own Change Project

Tell us about your idea for centering equity while supporting educator empowerment, teacher leadership, and creating communities of care and connection! The WREN will provide coaching support for the design, implementation, and funding of a change project with these goals in mind.
