All About Golf! 
 
We hope you heard the episode that dropped on April 22nd!  It was about Liam and Alexia, from Lindsay's book "An Above Par Day" and one of our favorite sports - golf!  And the Kiddywink at the end was pretty special!

This month's activity is a golf game inspired by "An Above Par Day"!  
 
It's a differentiated math game, meaning there are multiple "levels" to the game so that everyone can find the right challenge level for them.  The first level is mostly about number recognition, and then the other levels work on decomposing numbers, addition, and strategy.  
 
Tip: Put it in a sheet protector and use a dry erase marker!

At Kiddywink Crew we love to "lead with our 3 hearts".  Our mascot, Ozzie, is an octopus, and our favorite fact about him is that he has 3 hearts.  We want to spend some time in this section to focus on things that are at the heart, or hearts, of our business.
 
This Month's Focus: An Above Par Day
 
Lindsay was in the middle of writing "An Above Par Day" when we created "Kiddywink Crew".  While the book didn't have much of a connection to our first series, it was made with love, something that means a lot to us and this company.  Lindsay wrote it after searching high and low for picture books about golf for her son, LB.  She wanted him to see a mixed race golfer who looked like him.  As a former math facilitator, Lindsay also wanted to showcase the math that comes up naturally when you play golf.      

Does practice really make perfect? And is perfect really what it's all about? An Above Par Day is an engaging and relatable story about a boy, Liam, who thinks he will be as good as the pros when he goes out on a real golf course. Liam's frustration gets in the way of enjoying his family golf outing. Will he be able to turn his attitude around and make some memories with his sister and parents?
 
An Above Par Day captures the emotions we feel when we try something new, and we're not quite as successful as we had hoped.  We all need a little resilience!

We had the best time with the Kindergartners at Hubbard Woods School in April!  We got to share "An Above Par Day" with Ozzie's help, and taught them the golf math game we shared above.  We LOVE being with kiddywinks in person - thanks for having us Hubbard Woods!

Looking Ahead: We are very excited about our next event in July!  It will be grandparent/grandkid gentle yoga with guidance from Ozzie and an instructor from Analog Yoga in Oak Park!
