Barn Talk

Barn Talk February

My god where is the year going? Can anyone remember Christmas?

The team at Breton has been going along steadily and have been working on some things that are in the background and looking at announcing some treatment packages that will allow you to have multiple treatments with a saving.

We are hoping to be at Farm World for our second year and very excited to announce that we will be in a marquee with Rachel Flynn Equine Photography who kindly took some amazing photos of me or the business. Rachel is an amazing photographer who captured us perfectly and we will be doing a personal session as well. DID YOU KNOW - you can enter to win a free session with Rachel if you subscribe to her newsletter! One winner a month. Head over to: Equine Photography by Rachel Flynn

I have been doing further studies as you know I like to keep learning. I am doing further studies into Equine Iridology and will be able to offer sessions very shortly.I will also be doing my assessment and if you feel you would like me to do your horse for free please email me on info.bretonequineservices@gmail.com

Some of you have been following my boy Geronimo’s progress. Realistically his injury means it will be a 12 - 18 months recovery but for me that is ok, he is worth it. We will start doing some long walks soon and rebuilding his muscle which has wasted a bit with the lack of work. Mind you the other day my heart melted when I saw him trotting something I thought I would not see happen again.

Keep safe till next Barn Talk

Artie the Mule Update

Our mule boy Arturo (Artie) is 4 months old now and is so different from his full blood sister.

Artie is so independant and loves to follow Uncle Geronimo around most of the time rather than hang with his mum. Artie has also found a special friend in Louie, our 8 month old Great Dane X Catahoula dog. It is very common to find these two chasing, biting (yes biting) and playing all over each other.

Artie has another funny little behavior of when a new round bale arrives he has to roll himself in it for some time. He has been a pleasure to have and I look forward to the journey we have ahead together.

"Every Ride We Get Stronger"

Something a little different for barn talk is I wanted to share a fantastic local hotel which I had not long discovered even though it was only 29km away. I had not visited it until recently, when we attended a birthday lunch.

First the Traveller’s Rest Hotel in Thorpdale is a wonderful old 1932 building which is art deco inspired. I have sat in the beer garden, outdoor side decking and inside and there is no bad seating in this place.

The staff are so friendly but also know their stuff about the history of the hotel which always gives you a sense of belonging. The food is amazing and they source a lot of produce from local places including the lovely Savugion Blanc from Wild Dog Wineries.

This place has become a regular and all the meals I have had there so far have been firstly yummy but secondly consistent which is what you want. I can highly recommend the regular menu items calamari, the traditional parma, and the carbonara linguine but not only the regulars the specials are just as wonderful including the tacos and the gnocchi.

So if you are local or visiting drop in to the Traveller’s Rest Hotel Station Street Thorpdale
