JANUARY SHOUTOUT

LET'S TALK ABOUT WELCOMING A NEW YEAR

How Do We Make the Most of 2022?

“You Get More of What you Focus On” is my mantra this year.

If I focus on the negative (and let’s be honest, there’s a lot of negative to focus on), then I’ll be more of that. If I put attention on the positive, find something to be grateful for, look for the bright spot in the dark place, then I will get more of that. It’s a pretty simple concept, but a hard one to remember in the moment.

Join me this year on simplifying your life by remembering this one tiny truth…

Energy flows where attention goes!

5 Things I'm Loving

1: Making More Time for Family

As each week goes by, I’m getting more and more clear on how fast my kids are growing up. You hear it all the time as a parent that, "Time Flies," and, "You’ll wish you had this time back again when your kids are older." I have many times ignored these truths as I was just trying to get through the day; however, it really hit me in this last month just how fast time is moving.

Family time is becoming harder to nail down AND becoming more and more precious to me. We are at our best as a family when we are OUT of our normal daily environment and not being pulled in all the different directions our at-home life just naturally pulls us in.

Therefore, I really cherished the 3 wonderful days we spent together between Christmas and New Years in Yosemite… playing, laughing, eating, watching movies and enjoying the SNOW! We have now been to Yosemite in every season and seeing it in the Winter was just majestic and magical – truly such a beautiful place!

Also while in Yosemite, our little guy Zack turned 11!

2: Spotify Acoustic Playlists While Working

I have tried so many music platforms and I have to say that Spotify is my favorite – I love the music they curate based on preferences, the ease of finding  those playlists, and the variety.

Listening to acoustic and focus music in the background while I’m writing (I actually have Calm Vibes playing right now) has been such a fun way to engage with music again!

3: My New BlendJet

Steve got this handy USB-powered blender from his brother for Christmas and I am LOVING it! One of the reasons I don’t like to make a green smoothie in the morning is b/c I have to lug out my big NINJA blender. Not anymore… this handy high-powered blender is so awesome. I highly recommend it for yourself, but also a fun (and practical) gift for that person in your life that has everything.

4: The Book You're Not Listening

This book has been a game-changer for me. I know I say that a lot but this, in particular, has truly shifted many aspects of my communication. I find myself listening deeper, asking better questions, and hearing what people are saying in a different way after reading this book. Everyone should consider reading this one!

Don't have time to read? I hear ya! My intention is to read more this year. Here’s a great article on how to do just that. I've found it so helpful.

5: The "22 for 22" List

It's not too late to make a New Year's "resolution." I especially like Gretchen Rubin's, author of The Happiness Project, take on resolutions and her "22 for 22" list. The idea is to list 22 things you want to accomplish in 2022. The items can be easy or ambitious; one-time undertakings or long-term habits... The idea is to make the list work for you. She even suggests centering it around your "word of the year." I downloaded it and have been enjoying the process. Will you join me?
