Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Sollis Health flagship in Palm Beach, and I was blown away by the experience, not just as an investor but as a patient.
I place a lot of importance on health & wellness, primarily through nutrition and exercise. Yet, when it comes to primary healthcare or 'sick care,' I find myself less inclined to dedicate time and resources to treat illnesses and injuries. I tend to gravitate towards home remedies and "waiting it out" until it becomes necessary to visit a doctor.
Unfortunately, like many of us, I have been conditioned by the US healthcare system to treat traditional and urgent medical care as an inconvenient chore or a necessity, where long wait times, inconsistent care, and the burden of dealing with insurance companies leave me less inclined to seek medical care.
99.9% of my ongoing healthcare today is managed by private-pay, subscription-based businesses like Cenegenics, and Lifeforce, which handles my preventive care through bloodwork, and monitoring. While these solutions are great for longevity and overall wellness, they don't provide real-time medical or urgent care, which I needed most recently.
A little over six weeks ago, I felt a sharp pain in my foot as I got off my bike. At the time, I was worried that I had injured my foot and might need to see a doctor, but I decided to wait and see if the pain would subside with rest and recovery. Days and weeks passed, and the pain subsided, yet my foot was still not back to feeling 100%.
Some common determinants of my hesitation to seek care were:
I don't have enough time / I don't want to wait for hours
I can't find a good doctor
Where do I even go to get an X-ray
Which doctors will accept my insurance
Doctors not accepting new patients
No near-term appointments are available
Given the opportunity, I decided to put Sollis Health to the test; with their 24/7 doctors, private ER, and advanced imaging equipment, they managed to mitigate all the reasons I had not to get my foot checked out. Sollis also expanded my perspective on traditional healthcare not as a chore or a necessity but as a high-quality and enjoyable experience that I can incorporate seamlessly into my lifestyle that adds value by providing quick, upscale, and convenient services in an industry that has been constructed to be anything but convenient.
With the rise of patient-centric, subscription-based healthcare businesses like Cenegenics, Lifeforce, and Sollis Health, I've managed to divert using my health insurance for routine visits by creating personalized a-la-carte healthcare tailored to my needs, requirements, and lifestyle where I can get the care I need with greater flexibility, expanded access, luxury, and convenience without the bureaucracy and limitations of insurance-based care.
While I still have traditional health insurance, my use and need for it has shifted to becoming its namesake ' insurance,' simply a precautionary measure to cover me for major medical events. This shift has allowed me to consciously level up to a higher standard of care where I have control, not my insurance company.
Since my visit, I have shared and raved about my luxury urgent care experience at Sollis Health which is in itself an oxymoron because when have you ever heard the words luxury experience and urgent care together in the same sentence?
Being at the forefront of new products, concepts, and services, my partner always jokes and says that being an investor is similar to being a modern-day influencer; yet, the novelty of being referred to an urgent care provider by a friend and not by a doctor is a bit outlandish in and of itself. It is not typical to boast about your urgent care experience, yet I am not the only one, as over 50% of Sollis Health members come through word of mouth or referral.
Sollis Health has exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to supporting continued growth in the coming years.
Below you will find a timeline of my experience at Sollis Health, in which I got a complete checkup and x-ray with a total time of 32 minutes.
