Top Reads of 2022

Hey friends!

I hope you're all doing well and you had a wonderful holiday season! It's hard to believe we're going into 2023. I have some exciting plans to share with you for 2023!

Unfortunately, this month I battled flu A alongside the rest of my family. We spent Christmas at home, so we didn't get anyone else sick. Since I have asthma, this sickness hit me pretty hard, and it's taken me quite a while to recover. I still have a cough, but overall I'm feeling better and pushing forward to get things done.

My word for 2022 was BALANCE. Little did I know how much this would come into play this year. Starting on January 1, 2022, I broke my left ankle. This forced me to slow down and not do everything I had planned for 2022. Fortunately, I'm doing well now, and it all worked out.

This year I still managed to accomplish...

  1. Revising Book two of my Divine Witches Duology.

  2. A round of critique partners and beta readers for book two

3. Editing Book two

  1. Outlining my Urban Fantasy Serial Project Shadows

  2. Writing Episode one & part of Episode two of Project Shadows.

Even though I didn't get a chance to do everything I planned for 2022, I can still look back and see that I did accomplish quite a bit. I encourage you to do the same. It might not seem like you did much, but I bet you did. So celebrate those accomplishments!

So what are my plans for 2023?

Despite being sick this month, I finished my copy and line edits, and am close to finishing a read-through of the entire manuscript. In January, I plan to format book two myself. I recently took a formatting class by Mandi Lynn. I highly recommend her course if you'd like to learn how to format your own books.

Above is a sneak peek of book two's cover! Sorry for the quality, but it's the best I can do at the moment. I wanted to share a little something with you because I can't wait to share the entire cover! I truly hope it's ready for me to share with you all in January or February.

I also hope to have book two formatted and proofread by February. Which means I may need ARC readers by February or March!

If you've read book one and would like to be on my ARC team, I plan to share more info about it in my upcoming newsletters, so be sure to keep an eye out!

Thank you to those who took the poll last month!

I sincerely appreciate your feedback and support!

In 2023 after I publish book two of my Divine Witches duology, I have big plans for Project Shadows. I always break my goals down using the good, better, and best method. So here are my goals for this project:

BEST: Publish the entire serial by the end of 2023

BETTER: Have all episodes written, edited, formatted, and ready to publish in early 2024

GOOD: Finish writing and revising all episodes by the end of 2023 and begin to work with an editor on them in 2024.

Wish me luck! I'll keep you posted as I continue to work on it. For now, here's a little bit about episode two.

Episode 2

Nori begins to settle into her new life as Guardian, but the betrayal of one of her friends causes more problems than she anticipated. The more Nori discovers, the more danger she’s in. Will she survive long enough to avenge her sister’s death?

Serial Fiction Boot Camp

I took my friend Brittany Wang's Serial Fiction Boot Camp. And I can't recommend it enough. If you're a writer who wants to know more about writing serial fiction or if you've already started planning a serial series, this course is for you!

Brittany's friendly teaching style, helpful Google Doc workbooks, a multitude of examples, and in-depth information helped me have a breakthrough with my serial outline.

This course includes step-by-step video lessons that fit into your busy schedule, actionable workbooks, additional resources, an exclusive serial writer community, lifetime access, and more!

This month I enjoyed reading some romances and one fantasy. If you love fantasy, I highly recommend Daughter of the Moon Goddess. It's not pictured here, but this month I also started reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. I hope to finish it soon.

In no particular order here are my top reads of 2022.

If you haven't read any of these, I highly recommend you do!
