Greetings all, It's becoming a very busy month. As one Oktoberfest ends, another is announced; there's more and more EDM parties over the next two weeks; there's Halloween parties appearing at the end of the month too. Lots to choose from! The newest venue, Liv, opened last weekend; thank you guys for the invite, it was a great evening, there were some cool people there and the place looks fantastic. There are some food events coming too; another two Jaffna Food Festivals have been announced, as well as a Turkish Food Festival next week. Meal Deals and Food Offers There's been a surge in popularity of Jaffna Food recently and this week two more Jaffna Food Festivals have been announced. The first is one that we heard about last week, at Upali's by Nawaloka, who will be serving authentic Northern Cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days, 29 and 30 October. The other is "Yaal Virindu", at the Ramada's Gardenia Restaurant from 27 to 30 October. This dinner buffet, availably from 7.00pm to 11pm, will feature Jaffna dishes including traditional recipes from Danu and Thushara Innasithamby. The dinner buffet cost is Rs5,500 per person. And there's another food festival next week: a Turkish Food week at the Galle Face Hotel. For this, they have teamed up with award-winning Turkish chef Recep Ozkaya, the Executive Chef of the Intercontinental Hotel, Istanbul. The Turkish Food festival will run from 26 to 29 October. Muy Grande, the Mexican cloud kitchen, have launched a Mexican Platter for two to share. Each platter contains two tacos, two quesadillas, two burritos, salsas and sauces. It's offered with beef or chicken (if you ask nicely, you might get one of each) and costs Rs4700. It can be delivered within Colombo and the suburbs. Call or Whatsapp to 076 221 5611. On Saturday 29 October, ME Colombo are hosting a Halloween Dinner Buffet, with face painting and free candy for kids. There's also a fancy dress competition with a free one-night stay for the winner. The buffet dinner costs Rs4,200 per person. And for everyone who was looking forward to the Western Breeze Food Festival this weekend: that has sadly been postponed due to the poor weather and will now take place in three weeks' time, on 11th and 12th November. | | |

Drinks Deals There's been some great Oktoberfests this month. If you missed them, don't worry, there are still more to come. There is an Oktoberfest underway at The Irish, with a traditional menu, drinks offers, live music and more. It's on through to 22 October. An Oktoberfest is also on at The Station, from 19th to 23rd October, during which time you can enjoy draft beers, flavoured beers, combo deals and live music. And The Joint are also hosting an Oktoberfest this Friday, for one night only. There will be a buffet style dinner, games, competitions and live music. Next week, The Colombo Hilton is also hosting an Oktoberfest from 27 October to 5 November, also with traditional games, foods, drinks and a German Oompah band. This will probably be the final Oktoberfest of the year... but you never know, there are more announced every week! Butler's Pub has launched some new Happy Hour specials: buy one, get one free on Lion Pitchers and selected cocktails from 5pm to 6pn, every day. And there's a new Ladies' Night at the newly opened Liv, Lounge and Karaoke Bar. Ladies can enjoy free cocktails from 7.00pm to 9.00pm on Wednesdays. | | |

Live Music and DJs This Friday we see another live music fest the Hiru Life Party with six performers: Wasthi, Sanuka, Dinesh, Kanchana, Nadeemal, Kaizer & Anushka, performing with Daddy and Infinity at the Lotus Tower Arena. Also on Friday, "The Originals" is on at Cinnamon Lakeside. Here you can find five performers: Umara, Lahiru, Chitral, Ashanthi and Hector Dias with D Major. Still on Friday 21 October, Romaine Willis will be performing at Liv, from 9.00pm. Classical music this Saturday, 22 October, as The Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka are in concert, performing various works by Dvorak, Bach, Bruch and Chopin at the Lionel Wendt Theatre at 7.00pm. Next week, on Friday 28 October, Infinity Sundown will have Infinity on stage at Nelum Pokuna with Bachi, Wasthi, Jayasri and Kasun, from 6pm. Meanwhile the Taj Samudra is hosting not one but two music festivals next Friday! "Decades Party" will feature three bands, three DJs and 3 solo artists, performing songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s. Meanwhile, on the other side of the grounds, "Ra Sihinayak" features Doctor perforning with four artists. And next Saturday 29th we look forward to Rocktober Volume 2. Following from the sold-out gig earlier this month, Stigmata will return to Darley Road with the same guest acts: Sevexth, Sanjeev Niles and Ashen, plus an additional guest, Trishira. Five acts for the same price of Rs2000. EDM Music: this Friday, "Public Secret" will be on at On14, with guest DJ Praveen Jay plus five local DJs and 3 B2B pairs On Saturday, you can let Friday night continue uninterrupted. Head to Cey-Nor Seafood Restaurant for "Dream Paradise" starting at 7.00am for anther twelve hours, with guest DJ Andrey Kadyshevsky plus seven local DJs. Saturday evening sees "Eyeris" the glow in the dark party, with Jayy Vibes B2B with Echo Daft headlining and six more local DJs, at Zouk. Other Events Trivia fans, this Thursday 20 October, PappaRich in Nawala are hosting another Quiz Night from 7pm, with BYOB. On Friday, there will be an exhibition of artwork by Bilaal Raji Saheed and the launch of Sri Lanka's first NFT collection. This is at Hatch, in the auditorium from 10.00am to 8.00pm. On Sunday morning, Cafe Kumbuk are hosting an Embroidery Workshop in the garden, from 9.30am to 11.30am. Also on Sunday, there will be a popup "Local Bazaar" at Park Street Mews, featuring goods from many local small businesses. This will be from 10.00am to 6.00pm in the Stables. Next week sees the long-awaited return of the Colombo Pub Quiz, this time at Darley Road, on Wednesday 26 October from 7.00pm with drink and combo deals plus entertainment. Also next Wednesday, crypto enthusiasts might enjoy a "Ceylon Bitcoin Meetup" at Hatch, from 6.00pm, to get an update on wallets, Lightning Network and more. | | |
