Dear Friends of Hauke Park,
On Monday, August 1 at 6:30 pm the City Council will hold an in-person meeting at Mill Valley City Hall (26 Corte Madera Avenue) to discuss and potentially approve an Update to the Mill Valley Housing Element. The Housing Element is the City’s 8-year plan for affordable housing, and affects the proposed project at 1 Hamilton. We urge you to attend the meeting on Monday evening and continue to make your views about the 1 Hamilton project known.
Click here for information about the meeting, or to attend remotely.
Our members have submitted letters to the City regarding the Update and 1 Hamilton. You may wish to read the letters to prepare your own talking points for the upcoming meeting.
One of the most troublesome parts of the Update is the fact that the City pre-approved 1 Hamilton through a separate process, bypassing the intensive site analysis that was literally going on at the same time as the Housing Element Update. The result is a continuation of the discriminatory policies that push all affordable housing east of Camino Alto and exclude wealthier neighborhoods of the City from all affordable housing.
We urge you to continue to attend meetings, send emails, and gather the support of your friends and families. High density developments do not belong in Mill Valley.
Warmly,
Friends of Hauke Park Communications Team
