Dear Readers,
I’ve gotten great feedback on my blog about Maya Angelou being sex trafficked. Her memoir Gather Together in My Name is another nod to the conversation needed about domestic sex trafficking.
Maya’s book reminds me that we all have our own agency. It’s up to us to find a way to move forward, keep our eyes open, learn something new…..
I learned a lot about self-publishing with my first novel, Still . It's time to take the things I wish I did differently and apply it to this new manuscript. Keep moving.
Recently, I reached out to the founder of Soul Survivor Ink, Gina Jernukian. She started the non-profit to remove/transform branding on trafficked individuals. It has affiliates all across the United States. You can read my interview with Gina here.
Or, try my new audio component and listen to Gina's own voice in the interview. I’m still learning to edit but give it a listen and let me know what you think. And yes, that’s an owl screeching in my backyard at the start and end of the recording (I couldn’t resist).
Two weeks ago, I reached out to Jon McGoran. He found my work compelling and has taken on the editing aspect of my manuscript. I’m grateful for fresh eyes on my project and look forward to working with him.
Shout out to Ninette Tustin for connecting me with Matty Dalrymple and to Matty for the introduction to Jon. God, I love my writing community. Want to read a great book series that takes place in Downtown Philly (Penn area) all the way out to Lancaster? I highly recommend Matty’s Lizzy Ballard Thrillers.
I appreciate all the questions, comments and insights into my work. Thank you for being part of my writing journey and mentioning my website to your friends.
I'd love to hear from you!
