NEWS FROM DR. REID Dear St. Patrick Families, It has been a great week at St. Patrick. The students have shown kindness in multiple ways. In each class the students discussed how we can make the world a kinder place. The kindergarten students created a graphic showing kindness (they helped their friends who fell or were sad). And they realized that the word Kind is in the word kindergarten. The students also walked to the Dilworth Soup Kitchen to donate food. They understand that this is one way of caring for their neighbors. |

WALKER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE If your child will be a walker this year at any point, be sure to select "walker" as one of the options on our Online Form (below). This form states that your family must live within walking distance of the school (no more than 1 mile away) and as parents you understand that your child will be escorted out of the building and expected to walk home without supervision. For safety reasons we will not allow students to be walkers if you do not live within a reasonable walking distance of the school, no more than one mile. Walkers will still continue to enter the gym in the morning as in years past. In the afternoon, walkers will be released out the door nearest the first grade classrooms which exits near the Family Life Center. A staff member will walk students to the Family Life Center area at which point they will continue to walk home. If a parent will meet the child to walk with them, they should plan to meet their child on the sidewalk between the church rectory and the Family Life Center. Families will not be permitted to play on the playground after school due to carpool traffic. Parking is not permitted in the rectory parking lot under any circumstance. |

BIRTHDAY TREATS Students are permitted to bring in store-bought (not homemade) treats to celebrate their birthdays with their class during lunch. Families have the option to purchase ice cream from the cafeteria for the birthday boy/girl and/or for the whole class to celebrate a birthday. Ice cream orders must be placed with Mrs. Loeber, the cafeteria manager, at least one week prior to the date to ensure enough ice cream is available for the class to participate. REPORTING PROCEDURES Everyone has a role to play in protecting children. North Carolina law requires all adults to immediately report suspected child abuse by anyone to law enforcement agencies. If you know or suspect that a minor (person under 18) has been abused, please call 9-1-1 or contact local law enforcement. Also, if you have information about possible sexual abuse or misconduct by any clergy, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Charlotte, report concerns securely and anonymously 24/7 over the phone or online: 1-888-630-5929 or www.RedFlagReporting.com/RCDOC. |
