July Newsletter

Theme: What’s next: TCIM edition

TCIM will be taking a break for a little while

The theme for July was a reflection on the TCIM journey. I want to start by thanking everyone that continues to subscribe, support and share as it means the world to me. It's been an amazing 4 years of growth.

TCIM  started as a desire to seek knowledge for my career path and has grown into sharing a love for science and deep understanding of the careers out there for life science graduates. The career profiles have explored a range of options with in depth personal examples. It really isn’t easy to share a career story for strangers to read, so I am thankful for everyone that has taken time to contribute in such detail.

While I would love to interview every possible person out there,  each career journey is too unique to begin to cover the endless possibilities. TCIM acts as a stepping stone to carving out your own path. In the next stages TCIM will act as a tool to piece together different bits of information.

“ Science isn’t complete till it's communicated”

The Scicomm side of TCIM has grown as a surprise to me but now acts as a strong pillar of this blog and my science journey. I hope to continue contributing to the way people think about science.

This newsletter serves as a content reminder of everything TCIM has to offer so please share and revisit some old and new posts !

I look forward to sciencing with you soon

Life science careers are often not well described. Out of all STEM careers it is hard to find clear information with personal examples. The catalyst in me does all this through interviews and resources that will guide your life science career.

Newsletters

TCIM newsletters of 2022

June Newsletter

Theme: Acknowledging Difficulties The theme for this month was acknowledging the difficulties of the path chosen. No career path is without its downfalls, and understanding some of the difficulties will make it a lot simpler to navigate.

May Newsletter

Theme: Creation Vs Consumption The theme for this month was to challenge my ideas on how science content is created and consumed. I had to do a inward reflection on how I interact with science outside "work". If I cant engage with other areas of science, as a science communicator how can I convince audiences to do the same?

April Newsletter

Theme: Consistency is Key The theme for this month reiterates a common phrase constantly heard. Consistency in the work you do is producing at a set goal you are proud of or willing to give out.

March Newsletter

Theme: Seeing is Believing I set out the theme for this month wanting to explore pretty pictures in science but stumbled across the headline of the sad loss of a patient who received the first pig human-heart transplant. Years of research goes into showing why something will be possible but some breakthroughs only happen as a result of necessity and hope.

February News Letter

Theme: Exploring Different Themes TCIM: the careers blog. Over the years and naturally the expected career paths for life science graduates have been categorised and with that I thought why not make sure the newsletter profiles represent this and then also push the boundaries and play at the intersection of these categories.

TCIM AS A RESOURCE - Part 1

Happy New Year ! Theme: TCIM as a Resource Writing the final newsletter in December was a struggle mainly because I didn't know what message I wanted to end the year with. I struggled identifying the bigger "why" as I explored different things with the blog.
