nothing half-baked

July 2022 Newsletter

Completing the recent Leadership course was cause for much celebration. We are grateful for the assistance of Paul and Debbie Troquille who came and helped us launch these courses.

Ezra 7:23 ESV “Whatever is decreed by the God of heaven, let it be done in full...”

There aren’t many things as disappointing as cutting into a piece of cake only to find it is half-baked. No one wants to have a mouthful of batter.

The mundane, day-to-day work of getting work done to pay the bills isn’t as exciting as the get-rich-quick schemes that are a dime a dozen on the internet. It seems everywhere you look there’s a new course promising a six-figure income after paying “only” $399.00. These quick fixes end up tasting like batter in your mouth when they don’t deliver those six figures they promised. Little can substitute for doing the hard work of seeing things through to the end. It also pays to read that fine print.

Module 1 is done and dusted

A little more than a week ago, we finished our first Leadership Training module in Bujumbura, Burundi. We had 104 students enrolled from 32 different churches. 102 students completed the course successfully; we are grateful! In the coming months, we will be taking these leadership courses to the other nations we have churches present and beyond as the Lord opens doors for us. We understand that it is vitally important to work together with other churches to get the work of bringing the Gospel to everyone, everywhere, done. It can’t be a half-baked effort.

New Hope Academy is located on the property adjacent to the existing Hope Center. It will primarily service the children of the Hope Center outreach. We will finish it in full, it won't be a half-baked effort!

Gatumba Hope Center expansion

For the past few months, we have been working on the refurbishing/building of New Hope Academy, an extension of the Hope Center in Gatumba, Burundi. With the generous help of Joyce Meyer Ministries, we have purchased the first of two properties located adjacent to the existing Hope Center. Refurbishment of existing buildings is underway and we are making an application to open in 2023. Pray that we finish this part of the process well; that not only the necessary finances come in but also that our approval from the Ministry of Education comes in good time for classes to begin.

Thank you for your faithful partnership with us in prayer and support. We believe that there’s a lot more that lies ahead.
