September's Sentiments

Last week my oldest daughter's school was shut down and she started at-home learning this week. Luckily I have an amazing job that allows me to work from home and support her. In reflecting on the situation, I realized last year there was so much uncertainty. People were scared and battled daily with their feelings, beliefs, and reality. This year there is a different feeling in the air. People aren't scared anymore. They are upset. People are over the pandemic and it is showing in our relationships. More than ever we are seeing greater division not only in politics but everywhere I turn, it seems as though people are arguing and fighting each other. I long for the days where we can all get along or to agree to disagree.

Something I am proud of with DARCA is our continued ability to talk about water in meaningful ways. Sure we all have goals and thoughts about how water should be used, but DARCA is a place for all sectors of water. We aren't just one sector of water users. When we gather, agriculturalists, recreationalists, and environmentalists all sit peacefully in the same room. We have conversations that matter. We know that the people matter. I hope that doesn't change.

In the midst of everything, let's continue to demonstrate compassion, understanding, and grace. I urge you to take a minute to breathe, relax, and reset. In a world where emotions and beliefs are strong, let's not forget that or dim our fire, but let's remember that we are all people trying to do our best with what we've got. We can all use a little extra kindness.

Let's be the example,

Amber Weber, Executive Director

Conference Season!

Our 2022 Conference is booked! You read that right. We will be meeting in Colorado Springs, CO on February 24-25, 2022 for a jam packed conference with plenty of time scheduled in to just be together. We look forward to seeing you all again! Be on the lookout for more details as it gets closer!

Our Handbook is Getting a Facelift

As a member of DARCA, you know about our Handbook- a robust tool that can be used in a variety of situations. We are updating it and want your input! What are some topics you are facing in the water world that you’d find helpful to be in this tool? Stuff like: ditch easements, fill in the blank legal documents, or how to be a good shareholder, etc. Let Amber or a board member know what we can include in it!

Thank you for Service

We want to take a moment to thank two of our long-standing Board Members Scott Campbell and Phil Bertrand. These gentlemen have been through thick and thin with DARCA and we have appreciated their time, knowledge, dedication, and service to DARCA. We are thankful for them and we will miss their perspectives and experience. If you know these two guys, take a minute to tell them "thank you".

Board Seats Open

We have a lower Arkansas Basin representative seat open as well as a Colorado representative seat on the DARCA Board. If you are interested, please let me know and we can schedule a call to go over some details and get you in front of the Board. We are looking for open-minded individuals who touches water and consistently demonstrates the characteristics we hope is evident in all interactions with DARCA: integrity, dedication, and a passion for water and DARCA.
