A good day to you, !
Over here, fall is in full swing and the ground is covered in yellow and orange leaves.

Very romantic and...very dangerous.

You never know, a Hooting Jinx could be worried for you and make sure you "Mind your step".

It's like a recipe for a sprained ankle.

Revisions, Prototypes and Live Events.

The adjustments to the sculpts for injection moulding are still ongoing. We had some delays but eventually our original 3D artist, Rod Tinapay, is back on the job, so we are very excited to see his progresses.

In the meantime, we are about to have a prototype sent to print, including all cards and cardboards.

We have been working very hard on all the print files, so for the last round of revisions we decided to have a physical prototype in front of us. This way we can check the final product on paper, instead of on screen, and get some playtesting in person with the final design. Very exciting!

This will also give us the chance to present Kabula at board game cafes, which we had not done since last Christmas. If you are based close to Brussels or London, keep an eye out for our next updates. We hope to travel around more as well!

Preparing the files to print these prototypes forced us to take all the final decisions which had to be taken and end up with a nicer game. For example, we finally settled on a background for the item cards, evolving a bit on the concept of Plain Paper we proposed last time, to get to the Dirty Scroll background.

This gives us the chance to show off some of the item cards in the outrageous expansion! As you can see, they are not that outrageous… Right?

Nonetheless, some of them are a bit over the top and you wouldn't want them to appear while having a casual Kabula game with your granny.

Sorting items and monsters is easy, but to help you sort through Dungeons and Encounters (as you definitely don't want to sift through those decks every time you play) we devised an ORIGINAL and INNOVATIVE icon system that will blow your mind!

Now, hear us out: When a card is safe, it is marked with a green circle. When you should use some caution, there is an orange square. If you are in danger, there's a red triangle.

Why isn't this system used more often? We reckon it could improve many every-day situations and simplify lots of problems at crossroads.

As everybody has different thresholds, deciding which icon to use for each card has proven hard though. For now, we considered any sex reference (no matter how vague) as red and any reference to drug/alcohol use as yellow. With yellow we also include heavy cursing and particularly gruesome violence... However, we are considering moving all violence to green, as violence is everywhere all the time and for some inexplicable reason, nobody minds it. As usual, you can write to us here or join our discord to share your opinion with us :)

Talking about feedback, we also made changes following the feedback we received as comments to our latest KS update. We will share them in 2 weeks with the new update as not every backer is in the mailing list and it makes more sense to conclude the discussion there.

Aaaalright, I will go back to fixing those files, as we want to send them to print on Wednesday! You be good in the meanwhile and if you have the chance, hope you can enjoy some cool games!

Thanks for reading,

Antonio and the Kabula team :)
