"Old Age: Our Future"

The new document of the Pontifical Academy for Life

In these times it has become crucial to understand the role of older people in our society. How can we make the most of their experience and put to good use the teachings they have decided to disseminate? How to place old and new generations in a fruitful and reciprocal relationship? The new document of the Pontifical Academy for Life, published on Frebuary 9, tries to understand this.

This new document is meant to underline the urgency of a profound reflection that leads to a rethinking of the assistance model for the elderly, so that the individual and his or her situation become the main focus of health and social policies. The starting point of this model is the desire of every man and woman to enjoy the last season of life accompanied and supported by their families, in a habitat suitable for living the days of old age peacefully.
