Kiwanis Woodcutter's Ball: October 19 |
**Join us on October 19! ** Food Provided. Fun Service Opportunities The Woodcutter’s Ball will be held at Canyon Camp on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The Monroe Kiwanis Club is again sponsoring this event and is inviting Kiwanians, Scouts, Scouters, and friends of Canyon Camp to participate. A continental breakfast will be available from 8:00–9:00 a.m. with work projects starting at 9:00. Lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m. Projects will continue through late afternoon. We can use support and enthusiasm from everyone – so why not come to Camp on Oct. 19? All meals are complimentary thanks to the support of the Monroe Kiwanis Club. This annual workday has the primary focus of preparing the camp for the winter camping season. This includes delivering split firewood to the cabins used by Scouts throughout the winter months. Scouters are asked to bring chainsaws, splitters, and appropriate work clothes to work in the woods. (Note: Only trained operators may use chain saws). For those who cannot work in the woods, attendance is still encouraged as this workday is used as a time to do routine maintenance to buildings and to ready the camp for the winter camping season. Fall is a great time to visit Canyon Camp. You will enjoy the fresh fall air and enjoy the fellowship of others interested in perpetuating the Spirit of Canyon Camp.Breakfast and lunch for all volunteers will again be provided by the Monroe Kiwanis Club. Kiwanians, troops, individual scouters, and friends of Canyon Camp are invited to participate! Please send an email to Lee Binkley (leebinkley@hotmail.com ) to confirm your attendance as this will help in meal planning. |

Has your troop secured your preferred week for camp yet? Week 1 is already nearing capacity with a number of other weeks quickly filling as well. This time of year we see an increase in registrations. Click here to learn more and register today. In 2020, we will bring (or bring back) five merit badges to our traditionally strong program. The complete listing of NEW or returning merit badges for 2020 is: Scouting Heritage, Metalwork, Graphic Arts, Insect Study, and Textiles. These five merit badges will compliment the 50+ other badges and two supplemental programs for your Scouts. With the Canyon Ranger program for young scouts and Outdoor Wilderness League (OWL) adventure program for older scouts and leaders, the options are nearly endless for you and your scouts. Learn more about our summer program at www.canyoncampbsa.org/summer-camp. We also have an exciting announcement coming, but a few approvals are still needed. All we can say for now is that we will reach new heights in 2020! All you need to complete your registration is your preferred week identified, contact information for your unit leadership, and an estimated number of Scouts/leaders attending camp (this can be updated through April of next year). A $200 deposit is required, but this can be mailed in separately or phoned in if preferred. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out at program.canyon@gmail.com.
