... building a legacy of health & wellness in 2022

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Peace | Mercy | Blessings

This new year started with a reminder that we are still very much in a pandemic. 2022 marks the third year of the COVID-19 Pandemic and now another variant to contend with. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the latest Omicron variant appears to be more infectious, i.e., spread more easily, even from individuals who are vaccinated or who do not show symptoms.

Let's join hands in building a legacy of health and wellness in our community by keeping these public health messaging alive:

  1. Get fully vaccinated as vaccines remain the best public health measure to protect people from COVID-19, slow the virus transmission, and help reduce the likelihood of new variants emerging.
  2. Continue to wear your masks as they offer protection against all COVID-19 variants.
  3. Get tested if you suspect that you may be infected with COVID-19.

BONUS: continue to wash your hands and keep 6-feet apart from those who are not a part of your household. This can greatly help reduce the viral load in the community.

What We’ve Been Up To

After-school club activities resumed this month. The Junior STARs continued to learn about the Body Systems, where the focus is on creating awareness about how the systems in the body contribute to general health and wellness. Club meetings are hosted on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 2 pm.

The Super STARs continued to familiarize themselves with Conservation, learning why humans must care for and protect our resources (e.g., water, plants, animals) so that these resources can persist for the health and wellbeing of current and future generations. Club meetings are hosted on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 3:30 pm.

The Senior STARs completed a third college campus visit at Stevenson University, a continuation of their College and Career Preparedness exploration. These group of students are getting acquainted with the different types of financial aid available. Club meetings are hosted on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 3:30 pm.
