We made our way to Grandma's service last weekend - - - our first road trip since lockdown. Traveling felt weird. At each pit stop we encountered signage all over the doors re: social distancing and face masks. A variety of plexiglas barriers greeted us at checkouts. Fellow travelers demonstrated a wide range of cautious and carefree attitudes. Our masked family focused on the essential transactions and didn't linger, passing around the hand sanitizer in a way that's becoming routine.
Hotels have made their modifications also. Lobbies have been stripped of comfy furniture to dissuade lounging and gathering. Breakfast buffets have transformed into pay & pick-up. Although many restaurants have opened up for dine-in, we opted for carry out and were thankful for good weather to manage all the transitions easily.
Strange times indeed, but we made it.
