Seedling Newsletter: Vol 15

— August 23, 2024 —

A new school year is about to begin, which means Seedling's programs are as well! In this month's newsletter, we're sharing summer metrics and a brief curriculum overview. 🌿

Summer Success:

New Seedling Programs

Seedling taught 74 sessions at our 4 new partner sites this summer. Our team saw incredible growth in students and formed lasting connections. In end-of-summer surveys across locations, 98% of students expressed satisfaction with their instructor. 89% enjoyed the curriculum and had a positive classroom experience. This was facilitated by an increased emphasis on project-based learning, such as 3D modeling with clay to the left! 🪛

Inside the Classroom:

Seedling's Curriculum

Seedling's curriculum fosters a deep understanding of issues in agriculture, sustainability, and technology through interactive units. Currently, we cover plant science, hydroponics, nutrition, food systems, water quality, coding, modeling, business, and engineering (read more here). If you would like to discuss further or explore avenues to partner/collaborate, please reach out to Lavanya, our Program Manager, at lgupta3@jhu.edu! 📬

Meet Seedling

Seedling promotes educational equity in food and STEM literacy through tailored youth programming, sustainable hydroponics products, and widespread initiatives tackling food insecurity, sustainability, and healthy living. 🌱
