From the Pastor

Anniversary Sunday

There are many old church buildings around the world, many of them museums. What makes a church a real church is not the structure but the presence of a congregation with a vibrant faith in Jesus and engaged in making disciples and serving God's kingdom. The good news for us as we celebrate 341 years on Sunday morning — we are not a museum. We are grateful to God for the miracle of enabling the First Baptist Church to prevail three centuries and more. During the Revolutionary War, the British shut the church down for two years, but that didn't stop the church. The Civil War, the great earthquake of 1886, multiple hurricanes, and fires have all caused serious challenges for the church to survive, and by God's grace First Baptist Church still declares the gospel of Jesus and lives to serve his purpose in our city. We plan to celebrate in worship on Sunday, so you don't want to miss the joy of remembering God's goodness and looking forward to God's leadership in the years to come!

Congratulations to Liollio Architecture in receiving The Aspire States Merit Award

Sundays Mornings

9:15 - 10:30 am

Mark’s Gospel is stunningly beautiful and detailed. Mark wrote to ask and answer one primary question. Who is Jesus? And the resounding answer over and over is that He is the Son of God. The first eight chapters of this Gospel are filled with stories of Jesus displaying amazing power and divine compassion. The Son of God is both able and willing. Join us on Sundays as we work our way verse-by-verse through this extended introduction to the Son of God.

George Bednar, Minister to Students
