"Summertime, and the living is easy." - Ella Fitzgerald

Happy summer, y'all! The world smells of sunshine, and the air tastes like salty waves and tropical sunscreen. Everything just seems brighter, feels lighter, and it's all very happy-making. Like John Mayer said, "Cause a little bit of summer is what the whole year is about."

Last month I had the chance to compete in my first 5K Spartan Race in Austin, TX, with an incredible group of friends. We crawled under barbwire, threw spears, climbed ropes, jumped 6 ft. walls, plowed through muddy water, and even leaped over fire. The best part, we did it as a team. I remember being nervous, and my dear friend Steve said, "I got you, sis!" I will always cherish those four words. It's applicable in every aspect of life, not just for a race. That weekend I was surrounded by incredible friends. Where loyalty is a given and love is unending. I will be forever grateful and blessed to have amazing friends in my life. Not fair-weather ones that come and go as they see fit but true friendships that check-in on you and who knows most everything about you, and they continue to choose you. And I'm grateful for you, dear friends! Thank you for your love and support for my little business. I am simply a mom that has a passion for everything cookies. Thank you for riding along on this journey with me.

XO

-Rebekah

P.S. I got you!

Here's a little video I made during the Spartan. I'm so incredibly proud of of my team of warriors.

Cookie Curator in the News

Last month, the Cookie Curator was highlighted by Voyage LA Magazine. It was an honor to share my background and where it all began. I also shared my thoughts on the ups and downs of running a small business and my thoughts on the word luck.  As a subscriber, you probably will recognize my answer from March's newsletter.

I'm so grateful for these opportunities to share my business, work ethic, and love of cookies throughout these various publications.

My home bakery was also featured in the Summer edition of Sweet and Saucy Living- a subscription-based online magazine. It was so fun to chat about my family, where I find my cookie inspiration, my daily routine, and advice I would give to new cookie artists who are just beginning their journey.

In this magazine, Sweet and Saucy Living featured my bakery alongside other amazing cookiers, whom I truly look up too. It was an honor to be included in this magazine.

I am so excited to be an add-on instructor at the Dallas CookieCon in October.  You do not need a CookieCon ticket to purchase add-on classes.

In this set, we will be working with textures to create woodgrain, edible moss, and even 3-D cookie butterflies. We will also work on water coloring, airbrushing, piping, and flooding.

While decorating this set, students will also learn the art of teaching cookie decorating classes from their home bakery. This in-depth training will include supply lists, scheduling, preparations, creating class agendas, teaching, and even clean-up tips and tricks.

CC ticket holders: June 9th

In-Person Cookie Classes (Post-poned)

I know most of you know that I underwent surgery this past week.  It was a bit more brutal than expected and recovery time is about six weeks, three of which will be spent in bed.  With that said, there's a small chance I will open this cookie decorating class to "subscribers only" later this month; if not, it would be early July.  In this class, we will be creating 3-D cookie piñatas, airbrushing serapes, and decorating sombreros.

The tentative class dates would be:

Saturday, June 26th, 9:00 am

Saturday, June 26th, 6:00 pm

Monday, June 28th, 6:00 pm

I will send a separate email later this month with an update on classes and how to sign-up.

I cannot wait to FIESTA with you soon!

Feed the Homeless Service Opportunity

On July 10th, we will be putting lunch bags together filled with food, water, and a little love note to be delivered to the homeless across Orange County.  This event will be held in our backyard with different stations where people can easily make sandwiches, pack lunches, and write notes.  Kyle and I will deliver the bag lunches Sunday morning to HashtagLunchBagOC, who will be delivering the lunches to those in need.

Please let me know if you would be interested in packing lunches on July 10th or donating supplies for the big day.  I'm passionate about serving our community and hope to work alongside you soon!
