Dear Friends of MASCP,
When Rosa Rivera visited Madison from Arcatao this year, she kept telling us: “Otro mundo es posible” --- another world is possible. Rosa lost over half her family, her entire town and almost lost her life and yet, she remains full of hope and is a living reminder that we cannot give up the
struggle for justice.
In an era of increasing nationalism our community is facing a very real threat: isolation and disconnection from a world that needs us and that we need just as fiercely. The Madison Arcatao Sister City Project ties us to our neighbors in a way that reminds us of our shared history, humanity and future.
Rosa was asked why her story and work were important to us here in the USA, she said: "It is very important... because those who financed the war were the U.S. administrations back in the day. But we characterize the U.S. in the oppressive part that wanted to destroy our people and the other part that gave and gives us great hope and great happiness like MASCP. Groups
came together to defend life.”
In this season of giving, your support of this human connection makes the global struggle for peace and justice come alive. It is this human connection that has formed the strong bond of our long-standing relationship with the people of Arcatao that has thrived for over 32 years. Please continue to support this beautiful bond that runs deep and continues to involve those from all walks of life with the shared intention of building bridges and changing structures from the grassroots by making a donation today.
From all of us at MASCP, thank you for your continued support and our best wishes to you for a peaceful 2019.
