November, 2018

Hi everyone!

For all you Americans out there, I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! I can't believe it's already December again. Wow. What a year!

A lot has happened this month, so let's get to it!

For Small Business Saturday, I was invited to sing at Wattle and Daub, a beautiful home-decor store in Godalming. I stood in their window with all my gear and sang Christmas tunes for two hours. It was such fun I didn't want to stop! As payment, the owner of the store is letting me use her store as the set for my upcoming Christmas music video!

Stay tuned!

In addition to the Wattle and Daub event, I had two more singing gigs at senior centres/homes in the Surrey area this month, and I'm LOVING it.

If you or anyone else would like to hire me for any more singing here in the UK (festive or otherwise), send me an email or click the link below to check out the new singing page on my website!

Remember when I was in that collection of North American short plays back in July? Well, Eagle & Beaver teamed up with American Actors UK again to create a Thanksgiving version: "Side Dishes." It was a fun weekend with two sold-out shows! We're so pleased it went so well, and they're hoping to do many more shows like this in the future!

I'm so thankful to have gotten several more voiceover jobs this month! Thanks again, Soho Voices!

Surround (the acting group I work with regularly) has had its last sessions for the year! We met some lovely directors and other industry professionals, and it's such a joy and privilege to work and play with such a talented bunch!

In other Art-related news, I had two portfolio reviews this past month; one with an agent and one with an art director of a publishing company. They had great feedback for me, and I'm super excited to work on some new pieces to strengthen my portfolio and (hopefully) get me considered for some more work in the upcoming year!

I also attended the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Conference in Winchester this month. I met some lovely people, attended several interesting talks and workshops, and had a chance to promote my book! Yay!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

MY ONLINE SKETCHBOOK IS NOW PUBLIC!

Over a year ago, I started a Patreon page for my artwork. For every level of donation, I offered access to a special part of my art website: the Online Sketchbook. I've been updating it faithfully for a year and a half, and I'm quite proud of it. As I received the feedback that I should include more of my sketches and works-in-progress on my website, I've decided that I should share this with the world. So, I'm re-structuring my Patreon rewards and dropping the ribbon on this formerly exclusive portion of my website. I hope you enjoy, and please leave lots of comments!

Erick and I teamed up with Graham Hudson (the same photographer I did the sunrise shoot with in October) to do a romantic Christmas Shoot. We chose the newly-lit Christmas lights in Central London as a backdrop, and we got some lovely photos from the session. I'll be posting them on my Instagram and Facebook periodically throughout the season, so keep your eyes peeled!

I wanted to let you know that I'll be headed back to the States for Christmas/New Years, so I probably won't be able to create a newsletter for December. But fret not! I'll be back in January with a special recap of the past year plus whatever news has cropped up since I've sent this newsletter.

Thanks again for all of your support, the lovely notes you send me, and the comments you leave on my social media! It really means a lot to me :)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and I wish you a very happy New Year!

Love-

Rachel Marquez
