PLEASE make sure you're loading this entire edition of The Herald! Depending on your device, The Herald may be getting "clipped" and not fully loading. Our Matlacha Hookers Merchandise Team Needs You!!

The Matlacha Hookers Merchandise Team has a busy winter planned, and really needs some helping hands! New items now available: Swedish dishcloths with tropical designs, super absorbent dish towels with tropical and hilarious sayings, oversized dish towels, and small ceramic serving bowl with fish design.  We also have the 25h Anniversary Party t-shirt which is still discounted for members only. Come out and shop, and volunteer!

Island Fest with Mullet Toss- 3/9

The Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce needs our help with one of Pine Island's most beloved events, Island Fest with Mullet Toss, scheduled on March 9! We will be returning to the ball field at Phillips Park this year! YAY! We are a member in good standing of the Chamber, and this is a fun-filled event for both volunteers and attendees alike. General Membership Meeting

A note from our Vice Madam, Carolyn:

We wanted to inform you of a change in our upcoming meeting location. Due to the responses in our member survey requesting meetings to be held in Cape Coral, we'll be having our March General Meeting at Overtime Pizzeria & Sports Pub, located at 1708 Cape Coral Parkway W in Cape Coral. The meeting room will be available starting at 5:00 p.m.

While we won't have access to a buffet as originally planned, I'm pleased to share that the management at Overtime Pizzeria has agreed to accommodate us by allowing table orders for pizzas as well as a cash bar.

Please note that the management has also informed us that a 20% gratuity will be added to our checks for our private server. Kindly keep this in mind when planning your expenses for the meeting.

GPIA Need Volunteers March 18-22

The Greater Pine Island Alliance (GPIA) is going to be offering Camp Noah next month at Saint James City Civic Center. Camp Noah is a nationally acclaimed resiliency and preparedness program for disaster-impacted children. They are really in need of volunteers. The volunteers will help provide a safe, caring and fun environment where children have the opportunity to build resiliency skills. Volunteers will do this by utilizing a proven curriculum designed to help children process their disaster and/or trauma experience through creative activities, person-to-person engagement, and play. The dates for Camp Noah will be March 18 – March 22 and the hours are 8am-4:30pm. They REALLY need volunteers. Please click below to view the flyer and for information about signing up to help.

Bag 'n Tag Date Change!

Our Annual Bag 'n Tag and Pancake Breakfast is being moved to Saturday, April 13th at the Moose Lodge!  Keep donating gently worn items of clothing, household items, linens and home decor.  Drop off locations are the Maxwell House, 7830 Lobean Lane, Bokeelia; Trader's Hitching Post, 4547 Pine Island Rd NW in Matlacha (smaller bags or boxes); and the American Legion, 4106 Stringfellow Road in SJC.  Upcoming sort dates TBA.  When items are dropped off at the Maxwell House, please text DJ at 239-910-3829. 

Remember that all proceeds from this event go to our 'Hooked on Education Scholarship Program' to be awarded in May!

General Meeting Location Ideas Wanted!

The Matlacha Hookers Board is in the process of securing locations for our upcoming general membership meetings in Cape Coral, and we're reaching out to gather some ideas for potential meeting locations.

We are looking for venues that can accommodate 30-50 people and provide a conducive environment for productive discussions. Additionally, if the location offers any unique features or amenities, that would be a great bonus.

If you have any recommendations or insights into suitable meeting spaces in Cape Coral, we would greatly appreciate your input. Whether it's a conference center, hotel meeting room, or any other venue that you think could be a good fit, please feel free to share your suggestions. Pine Island Food Pantry News

The Pine Island Food Pantry is in need of the following items: feminine hygiene products, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, instant mashed potatoes, cereal, saltines, wide egg noodles, and any non-perishable snack items to put in kids' snack bags. Please bring donations to the next General Meeting or drop off at one of the following locations: Winn-Dixie, V.F.W., American Legion, Moose, Centennial Bank, the Matlacha Post Office or at the pantry when it is open on Monday and Thursdays, 9 am - 11 am.
