Introducing to our New Town and Water Clerk

The Town of Sturgis is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Town Clerk and Water Clerk, Mandy Jones Page. We are excited to welcome Mandy to our team. She officially assumed her position June 5, 2023.

Mandy grew up in Sturgis and continues to make Sturgis home. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role of Town Clerk and Water Clerk. With her background in accounting, payroll, accounts payable, file management, and administrative duties, we are confident that she will make a valuable contribution to our community.

As the Town and Water Clerk, Mandy will play a vital role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, maintaining the town's water billing, responding to customer inquiries, overseeing town meetings, administering elections, issuing licenses and permits, and providing essential support regarding other town matters. With her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, we are certain that Mandy will excel in this position and ensure the smooth functioning of our town's administrative operations.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Mandy Jones Page as she embarks on this new journey with us.

Architectural Survey Set to begin on the Former Sturgis Presbyterian Church

The Town of Sturgis in collaboration with local preservation authorities and community partners, is delighted to announce the commencement of the preliminary renovation efforts on the former Presbyterian Church, which is listed as a historical landmark with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

The former Presbyterian Church located next to the Sturgis Cemetery on Church Street has been in our community for over a century. As time has taken its toll on the building, it is our collective responsibility to ensure its preservation for future generations to appreciate and cherish.

We are committed to safeguarding our town's historical treasures and with the help of Belinda Stewart Architects and Mississippi State University we have undertaken the task of renovating this important structure. Students in the College of Architecture at MSU have begun surveying the building this summer to determine structural needs and design updates. The information they gather will be used in submitting grant applications. The services provided by the students are free of charge. Belinda Stewart Architects firm will oversee the project and is also assisting in obtaining grants for the project.

By breathing new life into this historic landmark, we will rejuvenate its presence in our town and create a vibrant community center. The revitalized space will provide a venue for various events, programs, and social gatherings. Together, we can create a lasting legacy that enriches our community and honors the spirit of the former Presbyterian Church.
