With the prevelance of the Omicron variant, social meetings needed to be suspended yet again for the health and safety of all.

Swiss Park President's Message

Dear Fellow Swiss,

It is out of an abundance of caution that the Board has made the decision to postpone the General Meeting that was originally scheduled for January 30 due to the surge of Covid-19 Omicron variant.  The new date for the General Meeting is Sunday April 24th at the Swiss Park Banquet Center in Whittier.

Heidi's World, operating the Swiss Park Banquet Center, was finally able to begin hosting events in and around August and they have been able to start paying Swiss Park, Inc. a reduced rent.  The focus for the Board this year is to find and event/catering company to take over from Heidi's World as their contract is coming to an end.  If any members have experience in searching for an event company or know of an event/catering company looking for a location, please contact us at socalswiss@gmail.com or call the Swiss Park, Inc. We are always looking for new people to volunteer to join the Board.  New Board members will come in with new skill sets and other perspectives that help maintain robust discussions and problem solving.  If you would like to become a Board member, please contact Daniel Hoffmann at (949) 400-8208 for details.

Your vote is vital to us!  If you cannot attend, please complete the Proxy that will be sent to all members and return it as soon as possible.  Your 2022 membership dues renewal form will be sent to you along with the meeting invitation and the proxy.  The election of the Board of Directors for Swiss Park is also held at this General Meeting.

We invite you to volunteer a small amount of your time to assist with the continued work of Swiss Park.  Several of the current board members have agreed to again stand for election, but there are several positions for which we are in need of volunteers.  The open positions are:

Vice President - Supports the President and participates in setting the direction for the Swiss Park.

Recording Secretary - Records and publishes the minutes of all meetings

Member at Large - Participates in setting direction for the Swiss Park

News from the Swiss Societies

Matterhorn Swiss

In person events are still on hold with the ongoing situation with Covid.  Please watch the calendar of the events on the www.socalswiss.com website to see which events will be held.  We are looking forward to holding our social activities soon.

Swiss Singing Harmonie

The Singing Society is ready and looking forward to starting rehearsals again once the mask mandate has been lifted.  We are planning to present a Spring concert and hope to see all of our dear friends then.  The date has not yet been determined but we will be sure to let you know as soon as possible.

Swiss in the South Bay

Verena Roosli reports that the Swiss in the South Bay events are on hold due to the Covid surge.  They hope to be able to meet in person soon.

August 1st Swiss Fair News

The United Swiss Societies of Southern California are excited to announce the date of this year's Swiss Fair.  It will be Sunday, July 31st, 2022.  The theme will be "Unity for Swiss Park".  We are facing difficult times but working together, the Swiss Park Facility will continue to be a home for all Swiss Societies.

Depending upon the situation with the ongoing pandemic, we may once again have a "reservation only" style celebration as we had in 2021.  Final details will be posted on the website and sent out through the newsletter.

Our next United Swiss meeting will be on April 7th, at which time a final decision will need to be made as to whether we will host a Swiss Fair open to all or if it will be a "reservation only" celebration.

I encourage you to attend both the United Swiss and the Swiss Park meeting.  Both organizations need the support of their members.  United Swiss has a secretary position open and Swiss Park has Board member positions open as well.

Please support the Swiss Park Board (Daniel Hoffmann, President) and all the other Swiss organizations during these challenging times.
