Who is ProActive?

ProActive PT is is a team of innovative physical therapists, dreamers, creators, avid life-learners, diverse athletes, adrenaline junkies, health nuts, coffee enthusiasts, consumers of our patients' baked goods, lame dad joke collectors, and Colorado lovers. We believe that every individual has the ability to heal themselves and learn to show up for themselves completely. This includes using a combination of one-on-one, hands-on PT sessions as well as encouraging at home self-care to achieve the best results. Take a peek down below to see what this last quarter has brought us! We are proud that YOU are a part of the ProActive PT family.

Chasing ProActive

We can't lie -- there's nothing more that we love to do than growing and learning. You could call us a little obsessed. Continue below to read about our recent travels filled with learning and expanding our expertise.

Casper, Wy                        The Myth and the Legend

Sara T. traveled to Casper Wyoming for Modern Management of the Older Adult on February 9th-10th. The course was hosted by the Institute of Clinical Excellence and provided a comprehensive approach to setting our older patients up for functional success. The course also addressed the common pitfall of physical therapy in under-treating the aging adult population. The course allowed Sara to build her skill set in regards to working with ProActive's older patients in order to further understand misconceptions and myths often associated with aging.

We believe that ALL of our patients deserve the best of care. It is our job to continually learn in order to better serve each group of patients that we see in the clinic.

If you have been into the ProActive clinic within the last year and a half, chances are you've seen Addison (left) or Johnny (right) running around. These two are our supervised exercise experts, our fix-it-all handymen, and our on-call jokesters. We are proud (and sad) to say that "bigger and better" has found its way to these two gents. Starting in June, Addison will be attending CU Denver's DPT program after being accepted on partial-scholarship. Johnny spent the summer of 2018 applying to several different DPT programs across the country as well as touring the campuses of NAU and Creighton. We will keep you posted on when his DPT journey begins, don't worry! Until then, make sure to come by and give these two a hard time...uh...we mean come visit with them.

The Latest and Greatest- Intern Addition: Meet Kristine Willingham

Kristine grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, but moved out to Colorado for school. She's always had a passion for health and exercise which is what drew her to beautiful Colorado. She is working towards completing her bachelors degree in health and exercise science and will be graduating in May. Upon graduation, she plans to apply to graduate school to obtain her doctorate in Physical Therapy. Kristine enjoys helping others overcome injury to get healthy, strong, and motivated. Currently for work, she coaches a kids rock climbing team helping them improve their technique and strength. When she isn't studying and working, Kristine spends most of her free time rock climbing, running, reading, and hiking with her husky Totem.

We are excited to announce that Kristine is becoming a permanent member of the ProActive family and will continue to work with us throughout 2019!

Around the Fort

All Eyes on You

ProActive isn't JUST a physical therapy center-- we are a group of clinicians dedicated to using all of the resources available to us to deliver you the best possible plan of care. We recognize that the Fort Collins community is better together, so partnering with other top healthcare professionals in town is of the utmost priority.

  The Specialists

We are proud to have the support of Dr. Jaclyn Munson, OD, FAAO and Fort Collins Family Eye Care, as well as Dr. Matthew Skrdla, O.D. and Spex Vision Care. Dr. Munson is our go-to specialist for analyzing how we input the information from what we see around us, and how that data affects our brain, our visions, and our neurology. Meanwhile, because of his personal experience with vision and tone difficulties, Dr. Skrdla specializes in how our vision (and our vision's tone) affect our posture and; therefore, how we move about in our world.

Through quarterly team meetings, open office communication, and an appropriate referral plan, ProActive PT, Fort Collins Family Eye Care, and Spex Vision Care have a joint mission of collaborating across healthcare disciplines to bring our patients the best of the best. We have all eyes on you to provide practical answers to your healthcare problems.

Nerds of a Feather...PRI Together?

On February 23rd and 24th, ProActive's dreams came true. After wanting to host a PRI course for almost a decade, 27  PT's gathered together at our clinic for a powerful weekend of learning. Focused on postural respiration, the course was a mixture of understanding information from new research articles as well as reinforcing well-known information and postural patterns.

To read more about the weekend from James Anderson's perspective, click here.

Thank you to all the PRI veterans and first-time attendees for coming to ProActive, it was an honor making new connections and revisiting old friendships throughout the weekend. Cheers to breathing into balloons and tucking those ribs!

Pie and Lattes

Okay, we tricked you. This section is not about pie and lattes, but it is about

PI-LAT-ES! Our Pilates for Balance class on March 27th was a hit, and we can't wait for everyone to come back for our 8-week Integrative Pilates course. This course is for all levels and focuses on mobility, core strength, and functionality. Check back next quarter for an update on how the class went! For more on the event, click here.
