Spanish Lessons

The senior classroom has begun 8 weeks of Spanish lessons with Cristina Artal Paricio. We received funding for this project as part of the ‘Say Yes to Languages’ Programme. The emphasis is on finding out about Spain, Spanish culture and learning a few Spanish phrases. PE lessons have moved to Tuesdays for the next seven weeks.

PTA Bingo Night

Thank you for your hamper donations. The bingo will start at 7:30p.m. Each family is asked to bring a tray of sandwiches, some sweet refreshments and a tea towel. This is the last bingo that 6th class parents will be attending, we need to ensure that parents from the younger classes know how to do all their jobs. If anyone does not have a job, please contact Natalie or Ger. Assistance is always needed in the kitchen.

School Transport

The school transport portal is now open on www.buseireann.ie. The closing date for applications for the 2024-25 school year is Friday 26th April 2024. The school inspector has agreed to change our bus route next year. The new bus route will be extended along the Enniskeane to Bandon road. If you do not live on a bus route, you may be eligible for a remote rural area transport grant. You are only eligible for the grant if you have applied for school transport and been refused. To qualify for the grant, you must live 3.2km from the school. When an application is made, your application will either say eligible, concessionary or not eligible. If it says concessionary, it means that you can get a ticket if there is space on the bus. If it says not eligible, you may qualify for the grant.

Additional Payment Activities

The Additional Activities Payment is now due. The amount is €100 per pupil. Parents are asked to pay the school directly by bank transfer. A/C Name: Ballymoney National School. IBAN: IE83 BOFI 9025 8139 0293 61 BIC: BOFIIE2D Please include your surname in the reference.

Bike Week

The junior classroom will have a scooter workshop next Tuesday. They should bring their scooters and helmets with them. We are short a few scooters. If any families in the senior classroom have scooters that we could borrow for the day, please let us know.

Food Dudes

There will be a refresher week of the 'Food Dudes Programme' from the 22nd - 26th April. This is a healthy eating initiative that encourages children to eat more fruit and vegetables. The children will be invited to taste a different fruit and vegetable each day. There are no prizes during the refresher week. A letter explaining the programme will be in your child's schoolbag tomorrow.

Batteries

We are continuing to collect used batteries in the school.
