Tucker Times is the monthly newsletter for Tucker 4-H Club

January Meeting Details

The meeting will be Monday, January 9th at 7pm in the cafeteria. Over Christmas break, the junior leaders came together and cut tie blankets. For this January we will be tying the 18 cut tie blankets. We will also be making scarves with fleece that we have left over. The cloverbuds will be making trail mix.

Record Book Work Time

4-H record books are a great way to remember your time in 4-H, but filling them out can be a bit overwhelming.

It is very beneficial to work on them during the year, so please bring your record books to the January meeting.

We can work on them together and get a head start on the process.

Come with any questions you may have!

Want to Learn How to Crochet?

Hello everyone! My name is Josie Weisensel and I am the leader of the knitting and crocheting projects for our club. Since I am home from college for the January general meeting, I am going to be doing a small demonstration/tutorial on how to crochet. If you are interested (4-H members or parents), I look forward to seeing you at the meeting! If you have a crochet hook lying around, feel free to bring it because I only have a small supply. Yarn will be provided.

JUNIOR LEADER CORNER

(For all members in 7th grade and above)

Racine County 4-H Junior Leader Meeting

ALL junior leaders (7th grade and above) should try to attend the county junior leader meetings. They are a great way to meet new 4-Hers and get involved in some interesting and fun opportunities. The next meeting will be on Monday, January 23 at 7:00 PM at the Racine County offices in Ives Grove. Carpooling is an option, if needed!

Thank you to all Tucker junior leaders who came and helped prepare the blankets for our January service project!

February Meeting

The February general meeting is currently still being planned. We have lots of fun ideas. However we still need to decide on what we are doing, as some of them are dependent on the dates of other county activities. Please watch your emails for more information to come.

Tucker 4-H Leader Spotlight

The Scrapbooking/Papercraft Project: Mary Weisensel

This is Mary Weisensel's first year as a 4-H teen Leader but she has been a junior leader for four years. It's her 10th year in 4-H and she is a junior at Horlick High School. She learned paper crafting skills from one of her relatives. Mary's relative actually teaches people paper crafting techniques as part of their job and has made a lot of videos about different skills. Mary has always enjoyed crafting and making things out of paper, especially 3-D objects. She is planning to teach her members techniques for card making, quilling, scrapbooking, origami, and many other paper crafts. Mary likes how she able to take a flat piece of paper and make something 3-D out of it and also likes how versatile paper is. You don't need a lot of fancy tools to make something fun and beautiful. She likes how many different options they have when crafting with paper, and how you can make a lot of different versions of the same project using different paper colors and textures to get a variety of results.

Talent Show

Do you have a special talent? Are you an expert at doing something? Do you like to share your talents with others? If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you! We have begun planning for our club talent show. It is always a fun event for our members!

We have had many varied acts over the years such as musical solos or duets, magic tricks, dance routines, demonstrations, skits, gymnastics routines, jokes, etc.

We are hoping to create a club skit for our talent show as well as the Racine County 4-H Communication Arts Festival. It was so much fun when we last performed a skit. All are welcome to participate...no acting experience is required!

Please sign up at the meeting if you are interested in participating in the talent show and/or the club skit.
