Welcome to another update from the Sturt's Steps project team. Sturt's Steps a strategic project funded by Infrastructure NSW to deliver 12 elements to Corner Country NSW that will provide amenities for visitors to increase tourism to the area. Kicked off in May 2020, it is aimed to be completed in 2022/2023. Read below and visit our website with all the updates from the implementation team. |

Update Summary Although 2020 has mixed reactions by many, in a way 2020 was a good platform of which to get this project started. The team is pleased to report that we are on schedule with timelines and also budget. Much of the approval processes, extra element scoping, and community engagement conducted last year have set this year up to be very productive already with certain elements already approved, procured, and underway. Updates on each element can be viewed on our website or brief updates mentioned below. The highlights being the progress on the Milparinka Masterplan, concept approvals for Post Office enhancements, museum structures, interpretation signage and camp kitchens. |

| | The Bilby & Quoll are on their way The first sculptures completed are the Bilby & Quoll made out of the off-cuts of the conservation area's fencing in Sturt National Park. These sculptures will help visitors to understand the importance of the Wild Deserts project and be placed strategically in the Park. Artist Ivan Lovett will be recognised in the accompanying signage that will be installed in coming months. For more on the other sculptures visit the website. | | |

| | Interpretation Signage A lot of work has been done on the content of these signs and continues to ensure we have all the content and facts to help guide visitors' understanding of the region. The procurement of these signs will be commencing in a matter of weeks with all specifications now finalised and approved by the committee. There will be 10 sites across the 1,100km with detailed interpretation. | | |

| | Milparinka Masterplan A masterplan not only helps locate the current projects but can provide vision for the future and enable a solid plan for a visitor economy. The Milparinka Masterplan has been approved by the committee with thought out placement of the new infrastructure whilst planning for the evolution of tourism infrastructure well into the future. This comes at a time where Milparinka Heritage & Tourism Association has been granted the management of the Milparinka Reserve, located adjacent for the current caravan park. | | |

| | Industry Familiarisation Confirmed After a few challenges with transport logistics, the industry famils are now booked in and confirmed for 15-18 March and 22-25 March and we look forward to sharing the Sturt's Steps journey and experience with our guests. The tourism industry is a multi-layered industry when it comes to those involves. Including private operators, not-for-profits, local government, state government, and federal government and this opportunity serves to unite all with the information on what will be one of the best touring experiences in Australia. | | |
