Powerboat Courses

These practical courses are filling up fast too but there are courses each month. Visit the booking page here.

We were planning on the mark layer course to take place in August but this now needs to be re-scheduled.  This is for those who already have completed the Powerboat Level 2. You can register your interest with the MI Sports and Recreation Manager.

If you are looking to gain your Hong Kong Licence (PVOCC) the Club also offers theory courses to prepare you for this. More details online here.

Aberdeen Racing Academy

We are pleased to welcome Daniel Dolega, our new Head Race Coach to the ARA. Look out for him at Middle Island. You can also contact him by email headracecoach@abclubhk.com

Autumn Weather

We are now officially in Autumn and temperatures are starting to fall (slightly). Sailors should bring an extra layer to wear while sailing. A windbreaker is ideal as it keeps the wind off you. It doesn't need to be waterproof although there are some good low cost options available.

As we approach the cooler months you may also need to add another warm layer below your jacket and also consider investing in a wetsuit. If you are dinghy sailing every week this is a good investment. For those rare occasions when the temperature falls to single digits a warm hat is essential, as significant amount of heat is lost through your head.

Keep an eye on the weather forecast from the Hong Kong Observatory and other reliable sources. The weather does follow a pattern and can change overnight with the arrival of the next monsoon.
