All CDSRA Meetings Cancelled Until Further Notice

We will miss having our Apple Blossom Royalty in April. The theme this year is "Bloomin' Fun In 101". A decision has not been made concerning our 2020 Apple Blossom Festival. We wish the best to these young ladies (left to right: Princess Kelly Norland, Queen Tess Sparks, Princess Kaia St. John).

Virus Requires Cancellations

A message from your CDSRA Co-Presidents, Kriss Crilly & Beverly Jagla

We are all aware of the current situation involving the Coronavirus. As a result of this, we are cancelling all three upcoming meetings for Chelan-Douglas School Retirees' Association. These will include the April 13 and May 11 meetings and luncheons at the Red Lion, plus our June 15 potluck at the Canyon Creek Club-house. We hope to resume our meetings in September, but that will be determined by what our world looks like by then. We will miss seeing all of you!

The State Convention which was scheduled to be held in Pasco on June 8-10 has also been cancelled.

The Red Lion can accommodate our group in October but that will also depend on successful containment of this rapidly spreading virus.

Your health and safety are most important to us, so these steps are necessary. We encourage all of you to practice good hygiene and keep safe distances from others, even loved ones. It is also a time to take care of each other. Call and check on friends that live alone to give moral support and make sure they are all right and have enough groceries, etc. Hoping to see you in the fall!

Legislative Updates

3% COLA Bill Passes!

The Legislature passed our COLA Bill and it is now waiting for the Governor's signature! This is what it means to each Plan 1 TERS and PERS retiree:

  1. You will receive $62.50 per month increase for the first $25,000 of your retirement benefit starting with your July 31 retirement check.
  2. This benefit is for one year only.
  3. This benefit is automatic, you don't have to apply for it.

Our District 12 Legislators were all very supportive and worked for our interests during all the complications of getting the bill passed. Be sure to thank them for their support! We were planning to invite them to our April meeting for a celebration and "thank you", but since that isn't possible, perhaps we can do it later.
