Help us put intergenerational fairness front and centre at the next federal election

What a month in politics!

Thanks to all of you who have messaged subscribed and shown your support for Think Forward. We’ve been quietly working away in the background setting things up, while all trying to not get fired from our jobs!

From now on you’ll be hearing from us every few weeks updating you on the latest on the movement, any relevant recent news on the topic and information on how you can get involved.

We are really excited to give you an exclusive first look at our mini-podcast series on intergenerational fairness with economist Danielle Woods from the Grattan Institute.

Check out our first podcast!

Listen, rate, share and give us your ideas on what we should ask our next guests.

Most importantly Think Forward are on Facebook- join, add your friends and share! We want to use this page to grow our subscribers and promote discussion on intergenerational fairness.

Many of you have said you want to get involved, and we NEED you!

We are looking for two new members to join us!

You will be the perfect fit if you:

  • are passionate about putting intergenerational fairness on the political agenda
  • have about 1-2 hours a week to contribute
  • are happy to join in on 45 minute fortnightly meetings
    • have a particular set of skills, that may be useful for us (we're not particular about your particular skills though!)

If you don’t fit the above category you can also stay connected to us by checking the ‘How you can help’ section over the next few months as we create more opportunities for you all to get involved.

Check out Think Forward's first op-ed published in The Age and SMH, and tell us what you think at hello@thinkfoward.org.au

Budget 2018: an act of intergenerational theft

The absence of action on intergenerational fairness issues has yet again left young people short-changed.

The latest HILDA survey has up to date evidence on intergenerational fairness

How Australians are faring

A unique snapshot of Australians reveals a country where incomes are stabilising, poverty is declining, rates of financial stress are down and we are more educated than ever - especially women. But amid the good news, the annual Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey of 17,000 people points to intergenerational tensions.

Housing affordability: what do you think of this take?

Why millennials can't afford a house

THE "Great Australian Dream" of owning your own home is further away than ever. But a new Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) report suggests millennials may be keeping themselves out of their market based on their own personal choices.

WHAT THINK FORWARD HAS BEEN UP TO

WHAT WE'VE GOT PLANNED

  • We're getting the next two podcasts ready for release

  • We want to find a way to create a video like this which simply explains what intergenerational fairness is (kinda like the video below!)

  • We are talking to other youth organisations to see how we can partner (if you know other youth run organisations we should talk to – let us know)
