Abram Leyzorek 4/17/2018 Current Events BBC: Saudi Arabia's crown prince Mohammed bin Salman is spearheading social and economic changes oriented towards the majority of his subjects, who are under thirty, that include developing the entertainment industry in order to end Saudi Arabia's reliance on oil wealth, and is justified by the fact that Saudis spent 30 billion dollars abroad on entertainment, and the Public Investment Fund will partner with AMC to build the first movie theater and will continue to develop the sector with orchestras, operas, etc, all things that in the past were frowned upon by the influential clerics due to their indecent and immoral content, especially the movies, but also things that were pervasive before this shift of power from the clerics to the more liberal government; movies were shown on airlines, at impromptu film festivals, were constantly viewed online, and could be formally viewed in nearby theaters abroad, so part of the argument is that the ban is unenforceable, so why not profit from it? New York Times: Alex Jones, a popular radio show host and Info Wars website operator and promulgator of alternative views based in Austin, Texas, is being sued by Leonard Pozner, his former wife Veronique de la Rosa, and Neil Heslin, parents of children who were, according to the mainstream view, killed at the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown Connecticut, 2012, for defamation because Mr. Jones has vocalized and supported, with some questionable evidence, the view that the parents and children were all actors in a scheme to pass gun control regulations, and are being represented by Houston lawyer Mark D. Bankston, also in charge of another suit against Alex Jones who misidentified the shooter in the recent Parkland, Florida school shooting, who will handle the charges filed with the Travis County District Court, the court presiding over Mr. Jones' home county.
