Welcoming Prayer Workshop

2 Options

Two Mondays or One Saturday

The Welcoming Prayer helps to dismantle acquired emotional programs and to heal the wounds of a lifetime by addressing them where they are stored – in the body. Through it we consent to God’s presence and action in our physical and emotional reactions to events and situations in daily life.

It welcomes the Holy Spirit into the particular pain we experience, whether physical, emotional or mental.

Cost $25

The Human Condition, Course 2

A Spiritual Journey Class

on Zoom

Mondays for 6 weeks

January 30, February 6, 13, 20, 27 and March 6

7:00 - 8:30 pm CST*

Cost $25

This class reveals the obstacles that keep us from peace,

identifying our programs for happiness that-can-never-work,

while helping us with the unloading of the unconscious.

The sessions consist of videos followed by a facilitated

discussion. The videos feature Thomas Keating, the founder

of Contemplative Outreach .

Beginners and seasoned Pray-ers alike follow Keating

through the concepts and ideas that he taught in

this foundational series.  Father Thomas’ self-evolution

makes concrete by example the process of transformation,

as he brings in, not only his theology, but also his knowledge

of psychology, and his insight into the overlap between

ancient traditions of the world.

*This class features the instruction of the practice of the Welcoming Prayer, a tool for bringing us into the "now" in the presence of the Holy Spirit during the disturbances of everyday life. We will be joining the Welcoming Prayer workshop for weeks 4 and 5 which start earlier, at 6:30 pm, CST.

The cost of the workshop is included in the price of the class.

2023 Re-Imagined

Saturday, January 28

9:30-11:30 am

Do you want this new year to be different than the past one but sometimes feel stuck or helpless in knowing how to move forward?

The contemplative art process for this session will offer you a simple technique that helps to open your mind and heart to see the “More”, and to experience a hope for growth and change.

We will be using simple materials: a picture, scissors, and glue, so that you can repeat the experience whenever you’d like once home.

Come be part of the creative energy of re-imaging the future!

Report on

December Weekend Silent Retreat with Shawn Kafader, "Entering the Mystical Mandala:

Centering Oneself in the Sacred Circle"

In this retreat we were offered an external experience that mirrors the internal journey of Centering Prayer. The process of creating simple mandalas invited us to deepen our Centering Prayer practice.

Absolutely no art-making experience or art-making talent was needed to participate in this retreat. Shawn Kafader focused our attention on the "process" of creating, and how that process has been used in every culture and faith tradition to center oneself on the Holy, not the "product" of our creations.

Future Retreats

We were guided through every step of the retreat experience in making our mandalas, which means "circle".

We were encouraged to come with an open mind and open-heart expectant to see where the Spirit might take us in this educational and creative retreat.

Lectio Divina

Every Wednesday via Zoom

7:00pm

The evening will consist of centering prayer for 20 minutes, and then Lectio Divina. We use the monastic form of this prayer, that is, reading the scripture passage twice, followed with reflection time and optional sharing.

Facilitated by Sr. Kathryn Ann Kobelinski, SSND, a commissioned presenter of the prayer.

There is no fee, but we are grateful for a donation (see our donation page).
