Sat Nam Friends,
It is hard to believe we getting to the tail end of 2022! November is an amazing month. In numerology, 11 is the parallel unionness, which essentially means connection with the oneness of everything. The Fall is a powerful time for us to connect with our inner selves deeply. The connection to all of our mental, physical and energetic bodies allows us to be very expansive and creative before December comes and we begin to go inward into the mental realms until spring begins to emerge in April. Take time to enjoy the Fall colours, the blue skies, the crisp air and beautiful sunrises and sunsets and know you are part of it all.
We have been through plenty of challenges over the past few years, our minds and bodies tested with stress. Although we may be feeling the urge to withdraw because we feel tired, worn out or just not into it, those feelings can be an indicator that we could use some movement, breath and meditation. In Kundalini yoga classes, students often wonder why we suspend our breath in at the end of postures or movements. When we suspend our breath we are actually activating our parasympathetic nervous system. The way we breathe affects our autonomic nervous system and we can actually use our breath to self-soothe. Try to take some time every day to focus on your breath, notice if it is full or shallow, then take the time to breathe fully and deeply. A few minutes a day of long deep breathing can help the body heal and restore after periods of stress.
Maybe give Trinity Breath a try.
Place your fingers in Gyan mudra (thumb and index fingers pressed together) and hold your hands up and out to the side of your shoulders.
Let your eyes be 1/10 open and gaze through the fringe of your lashes down at the tip of your nose. Inhale through puckered lips (1 second in) hold your breath in for 2 seconds and then exhale through your nose (1 second out). This breath pattern stimulates the pituitary gland and activates the vagus nerve for a calming and healing effect.
Many pass holders gave feedback that time-sensitive passes would help them stay committed. We have expanded the number of classes per week so you can easily use your pass in the time frames offered. Our new class passes are now available for purchase on our website. I intended to release them on November 1st. However, today was take your child to work day. Clark, my son, is in grade 9, so today, he learned about what Mom does as a Wellness Studio owner. We refreshed the chalkboards in the studio, updated the website and built the new yoga passes into the system. It was a fun day, and Clark thinks what I do is "pretty cool," and I agree!
There are roughly five mats available for full moon gong on Monday the 7th here in Brighton, and I am excited to share that Tiffany of The Goldenline Studio and I are hosting a Full Moon Eclipse Circle in Warkworth on November 8th. The night will include breathwork, a fire & water ritual and a gong healing.
