"Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothin' else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to speak." Sung by Frankie Valli
This pretty much sums up our feelings here at Stay Tuned Yoga! You're just too good to be true (can't take our eyes off of you). Every time we click the button to start the live stream for our classes, we are thrilled and gratified to see you and are very thankful that you're there with us!
Because of your continued support, we are really feeling the love these days, which is the perfect segue to talking about yoga and the heart. In the spirit of National Heart Month, if you do a search on 'yoga and heart health', you'll find loads of articles about the positive effects of yoga on the heart. One article in the
Johns Hopkins Health newsletter says: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/the-yoga-heart-connection
"Exercise that revs up your heart rate isn’t the only kind of physical activity that can help prevent or manage heart disease. The calming exercise of yoga is good for the heart, too.
One of yoga’s clearest benefits to the heart is its ability to relax the body and mind. Emotional stress can cause a cascade of physical effects, including the release of hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which narrow your arteries and increase blood pressure. The deep breathing and mental focus of yoga can offset this stress.
Beyond off-loading stress, practicing yoga may help lower blood pressure, blood cholesterol and blood glucose levels, as well as heart rate, making it a useful lifestyle intervention. One study has shown that blood measurements and waist circumference—a marker for heart disease—improved in middle-aged adults with metabolic syndrome who practiced yoga for three months."
So, if you can reduce your blood pressure, gain mental focus, and reduce your waist circumference by doing yoga....probably time to do more yoga. In our quest to help you do more yoga...
Meico Green will be offering a Morning Burst Guided Meditation this Saturday, February 13th at 11:00 AM via Zoom,

and Brandie Huffman will offer her first Thursday 5:30 PM class tonight (2/11), and Jenica Blake will offer her first 5:30 class Friday evening (2/12).
You now have more virtual classes to choose from, but one thing we hear over and over is how hard it is to get into a routine these days. We'd like to suggest that (right now) you pull out your calendar, scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to check out the class schedule, pick one or two classes,
and write them on your calendar. Instant routine!

Let's say you want to do some yoga, but there aren't any virtual classes going on at the moment. Lucky for you, we have a video library that is chock full of different types of yoga classes! Monthly unlimited video memberships are available for just $25! We also have four FREE short videos on our website: a 15-minute energizer with Brandie, a 20-minute flow with twists with Hearon, a 10-minute meditation with Lisa, and a 20-minute Yin Yoga class with Lisa. Why not give them a try?

Lastly, if you're looking for that perfect Valentine's Day gift for someone, may we suggest a Stay Tuned Yoga gift card so that you and a loved one could do a virtual class yoga together (either in-person/in the same house or by sharing space on the big screen virtually). Maybe you'd like to add matching Stay Tuned Yoga tee shirts. The Stay Tuned Yoga merchandise store (on our website under "More" and "Merchandise!") is ready to help you out with that! Or perhaps your sweetheart would like a yoga bolster or some new yoga blocks to supplement their yoga practice. You can find links to yoga props on our website (under "More" and then "Props"). Head to our website for your one-stop shop for
all things yoga related!
