February was a busy month for our Adams Creek Cohousing Community. In addition to all the meetings we have to get ready for construction to begin, there were many visitors and friends of Adams Creek visiting us. Visitors were welcomed from Wyoming, Colorado, California and, of course, Oregon. A hearty, warm, and loving welcome to Margaret from White Salmon, WA via SF, California, and Marilyn from Boulder, Colorado who became new Associate Members. Our Open House on February 9 was well attended and it is so exciting to “show and tell” our Adams Creek adventure! The Potluck on February 16 was spectacular and a gourmet delight. There were more friends of ACC than members present so the discussions were lively and everybody made new friends. And it must be noted that our culinary skills were at their best. Mark your calendars for these upcoming events. |

Flip and Zeke both love songs, and love getting people to sing along on them. Flip has been a song-catcher for almost 70 years; delighting, learning and sharing wonderful songs from the last couple hundred years, and writing a few. Flip co-founded the first North American music teaching camp for adults back in 1974, Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. Zeke is a crazy, hilarious song writer. He writes songs other people sing, and plays mandolin and clarinet. FlipAndZeke.com RSVP: Friends@AdamsCreekCohousing.com. |

Last Month's Concerts There were two house concerts in February: February 8 we enjoyed Mark Reynolds and Jim Drake. It was a small, but intimate group. Their music was original, lively, and toe-tapping good. Since they are a local group from The Dalles, go listen to these guys if you get the chance. |

Saturday, February 22, we hosted a KIDS CONCERT featuring the amazing Miss Beth (Beth Waters) that was interactive. Thirty kids enjoyed making and participating in the music. Contact us for a visit or more information - friends@adamscreekcohousing.com |

GAME NIGHTS In January we had our first game night, hosted by our Liz. With a Mexican Train domino theme, there was a fun group of about 16 people there hooting and hollering. It was so much fun that we hosted another game night on 26. It looks like this may become a monthly event for the 4th Wednesday of each month. So mark your calendars if you enjoy games – Mexican Train, cribbage, backgammon, whatever “floats your boat”. Come on out and enjoy the fun! |

OUR FUTURE AND WHERE WE ARE GOING! As you can see, there is a lot happening that involves building our community, which means people and relationships. We are so excited about all this and know that it will only grow better and deeper with time.Simultaneously, there is the building of our physical community and the future question on how we govern ourselves. Of course, there is a lot of activity around these issues, as well. Presently, our developer and the architects are working with the city boards and inspectors to move forward with the actual construction. We hope that will be this summer with a completion of our community the summer of 2021. It is a long, slow process but good things do not happen overnight. So with patience, a lot of work, and good consultants, we move ahead! Our Process/Governance Committee has been learning and working on implementing Dynamic Governance as our governing system. They do webinars, phone calls, etc with Ted and Jerry of Sociocracy for All (SoFA). It is an exciting and egalitarian process based on consent and functioning from the botton-up management. For further information about our community, its mission, aims, or goals, please contact us at friends@adamscreekcohousing.com. |
