"A Walk In The Watershed"

Sunday, October 20th

Join us for an informative and inspirational tour of two of PVCA’s stream bank improvement projects with habitat champion, Lysle Sherwin. Learn what impacts PVCA's Young Forest Initiative is having on water quality and wildlife from the expert. Hear from the farmers about the wildlife preservation work done by PVCA on their land.

Afterward, join Stacy Levy, world-famous landscape and sculpture artist, as she walks us through her property.  See how she defines wild vs built worlds using natural gradients that add beauty and habitat. Learn the answer to the question of how to live in a place without displacing the natural qualities that make the land beautiful.

We are offering FREE bus transportation for attendees from Old Gregg School in Spring Mills to our various project sites, as well as to Stacy Levy's Farm,

and then returning to Old Gregg School.

Parking is limited at each location so we are requiring attendees either sign up to ride the bus, or if you wish, you can bike or buggy to each of the locations for free.

Meet at Old Gregg School between 2:00 and 2:25 for departure at 2:30pm.

The address is:
106 School Street
Spring Mills, PA  16875

Please join your fellow PVCA members for the annual Fall Member Meeting, taking place Sunday, November 7th beginning at 6:30pm at the Bremen Town Ballroom in Millheim.

This year's meeting will follow the World Café format, which is "a powerful social technology for engaging people in conversations that matter, offering an effective antidote to the fast-paced fragmentation and lack of connection in today’s world."

Tables will be set for each of PVCA's various committees. Each table will be led by either a PVCA employee, Board member or committee member and will have a question for the participants to elicit responses. Each discussion consists of an overview of the committee’s role and responsibilities, as well as their contribution to the PVCA mission. After ten minutes, participants will move to the next table until everyone has had an opportunity to visit each committee. We will all then rejoin as a group to review the feedback at the end of the meeting.

Members will be casting ballots for individuals seeking to join the PVCA Board of Directors. We will also be presenting an overview of the annual finances, as well as an overview of PVCA's education and watershed projects.

Keep an eye out for our mailing to arrive within the next few days.

Any questions before then, please contact us at info@pennsvalley.net.

We wanted to send a special "Thank You!" to all that attended The Big Sit! last weekend at Muddy Paws Marsh. A big shout out as well to PVCA's own Environmental Educator Jim Flanagan for coordinating the local event, and most certainly to our graciou hosts Mary Kay and Greg Williams!
