Helpful Word Counts (Just because I look this up wayyyy more than I should, so perhaps I should share….)
Short story – under 7,500 words
Novelette – between 7,500 and 17,500Novella – between 17,500 and 40,000
Novel – over 40,000
[YA Novel – between 40,000 and 60,000]
[Adult Novel – between 40,000 and 90,000+]
(Note: these counts vary across sources BUT the above figures are good baselines)
