PASTORAL PAGE NEW BEGINNINGS By Elder Lynette Shek This is the season of new beginnings. It starts with Easter, when we remember the resurrection of our Lord Jesus and His victory over death. This victory over sin and death is available to all who believe in Him, and it is my hope that those who have not accepted Jesus as Lord of their lives would seriously consider what the Bible says, and make a commitment to Him. When you do, you will find that God starts the transformation in your heart to become a new person. God has promised in 2 Cor 5:17 - “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” We have some brothers and sisters getting baptized, and I trust this will mark a new beginning for them as well. Water Baptism symbolizes the dying to one’s old self, and being made new. My prayer is that this will be the start of an even closer walk with the Lord for these brothers and sisters................. If you are going through a season of challenges and need emotional support, the Lay Counselling Ministry in the Bible Church would love to pray and journey with you through your struggles and difficulties. Trained counsellors are available to help with pastoral care and short-term counselling for children, youth and adults, including TBC members, regular attendees and those seeking Christian counsel. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) Thank you for your show of support as members of the church, enabling us to conduct our Annual General Meeting physically. We thank God for guiding us through the whole process and making it all possible. The following office bearers were voted in to serve a new term: Chairperson: Lynette Shek Pei Chi Secretary: Deborah Lim Ai Yen Treasurer: Timothy Yeo Chu Ern Our incoming Chairperson shares her thoughts and aspirations in our Pastoral Pages on 9 April, ‘New Beginnings’, and 15 & 16 April, ‘A Yak With Shek’. Please read them in order to get to know her better! We want to thank Elder Tan Chin Tiong, for his 10 years of leadership as Chairman of the Church Council. We have all learnt so much from his wise counsel and patient advice. His passion and sacrifice in serving the church has touched many hearts. GOOD NEIGHBOURS FUNDRAISING As of 5 April, we have collected a total of $7,865. Thank you for every single donation we had received. Your generosity means everything to us and to the community we serve. Our target is $37000, we will continue to trust God to provide the funds we need through the church. You can partner us in showing love and hospitality to the West Coast and Clementi community by giving to our upcoming Good Neighbours initiatives. To fund these initiatives, we are raising a total of $37,000. We invite you to give from a grateful heart, out of the abundance that God has first given to us. New Blocks Outreach
Adopt-A-Family
We thank God for allowing us to bring the love of Jesus to 20 low-income families in the West Coast and Clementi area last year. In 2023, we will continue to be Jesus’ hands and feet to up to 30 families, infusing the hope of the gospel through love and practical help.
The collection will continue to be taken this weekend and can be put into the designated collection boxes at the exits of the Sanctuary. Additional funds collected will be channelled to other Good Neighbours initiatives. |

CRUX 1ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Testify Series: Jemima Ooi 16 April 2023 2-3.40pm (followed by light refreshments) Crux is turning 1! And we have invited Jemima Ooi, a young adult missionary in Africa, to be our speaker. Come hear the story of how God led a young adult who graduated with First Class honours, the top student in National University of Singapore’s School of Communications and New Media, to take the road less travelled, helping to rebuild war-affected communities, serving refugees and rape victims, church planting etc. in some of the most broken places on earth. Be inspired as Jemima shares stories of how she knew from a young age that her journey in life would not be an ordinary one, and how her decisions have impacted her, her family, friends and those around her. Everyone, especially young adults, is invited to come, learn, and celebrate with us! |

UPCOMING MISSIONS TRIPS TILL JUNE 2023 Please click here for some details of the upcoming mission trips. The exact dates for some of the above trips are to be confirmed. Please check with the respective contact persons about the dates and programmes or you may contact Asst Ps Gift Daniel at giftdaniel@biblechurch.sg. During the second half of the year, we plan to send mission teams to Nepal and to selected locations where our EquipAsia training is going on. These teams will be smaller in size and may include travel to remote places and have a specific ministry focus. If you are interested to go for mission trips to Nepal or to EquipAsia countries, please contact Asst Ps Gift Daniel. Pre-Mission Trip Training To derive the maximum benefit from the mission trips, we have certain guidelines for mission trippers. One of them is to attend the pre-mission trip orientation cum training session. The training provides an overall understanding of missions and attempt to address questions such as: Why go on a short-term mission trip? What are the Do’s and Don’ts of a mission trip? What can you expect from a mission trip? How to avoid turning a mission trip into a holiday trip, etc.? All our mission trippers are expected to go through this training. Please participate in the training even if you are not sure of your participation in a trip, but are considering a trip in the next 2 years.
