Art Talk & Some Exhibitions |

Hi Everyone, I have been taking painting classes for the last two months, so I will share with you soon what I am working on. Besides the alumni show at Redeemer, I also had the privilege to exhibit and talk about my art in front of 120 people at a seniors’ luncheon at my church. Burlington mayor Marianne Meed Ward stopped by to give an encouraging word at the event and had a conversation at our table. |

This was a meaningful chance for me to share the more personal side of my work and the symbolism of the colours. Some paintings were from my graduation project called On His Shoulders, which pays tribute to my dad and his legacy. In the title piece, the yellow ochre walls suit the warm atmosphere and celebratory occasion at his birthday party. I also found something poetic in showing windows facing the light on one side, and on the other facing the dark depths, hinting at the troubling times we would soon face. |

The focus of Reflections in Venice is on the lone gondolier and the radiant palazzi, while far away a bell tower and a dome point to heaven. If you look closely you will see a double image of my face, which is out of focus and seen from a different angle with each eye. I continue to feature optical effects like this in my current paintings. |

One of those paintings is Florentine Renaissance Treasures, which is in its final week on display at Redeemer University. |
