Dear Second Presbyterian Church Community,
We hope this update finds you healthy and in good spirits. It is now more important than ever that we stay connected, so we want to make sure you receive regular updates on the happenings at Second Presbyterian Church. Here’s a list of items we’ve been working on.
Combined Worship Service
We hope you joined First Presbyterian Church’s worship online this past Sunday. This upcoming Sunday, March 22, be sure to join us online again, for a combined worship service with Second Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Countryside Trinity Church. We are excited to bring three of the Presbyterian churches of Saginaw together during this time.

Lectionary
These weekly emails will also include this Sunday’s lectionary readings. This week’s readings are: 1 Samuel 16:1-13, Psalm 23, Ephesians 5:8-14, John 9:1-41
Interim Pastor Search
The Interim Search Committee is pleased to announce they are negotiating with a candidate and hope to have an Interim Pastor in place in the not-too-distant future. A start date has not yet been established. The committee is excited for our congregation as we head into the next phase of our pastoral transition.
Non-Worship Activities
All non-worship activities of the church have been cancelled or postponed. At this time the Lenten Study, group meetings, Youth Group, bazaar, or committee meetings are postponed. Laurel Taipale’s retirement luncheon at Apple Mountain, with the choirs and instrumentalists, has been cancelled until further notice.
Tithes and Gifts
We have received communications from folks with their concerns about continuing to support the church with their tithes and offerings. Even during our temporary closure, this can be accomplished by mailing a check directly to the church or even setting up online bill pay. Thank you!
Prayer List
As you pray at home, please be sure to lift up these individuals:
Stephanie Bennett
Winnie Bingham
Don and Sally Day
Ed and Alice DeWyse
Vera Dice
Heather Kleen
Cathy McNalley
Gary Shepherd
Carole Fowler (at the passing of her son Andy)
Jerry Hunt (at the passing of his brother Dennis)
Ginny Rusch (at the passing of her son Rob)
Office Hours
During this time we want to limit visitors to the office to aid in keeping the Coronavirus at bay. If you have an office need, please call Sonia first and from there the best course of action can be determined. The office can be reached at (989) 792-1023 Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, please leave a message if there is no answer.
If you know of someone in our church community who does not have internet access please share the latest in this mailing with them. Even in the midst of this ever-evolving situation, this is our chance to be the people of God for each other and the world. We hope that our church community will utilize different platforms to communicate and care for each other: email, text, Skype, telephone calls, written cards or notes, but most of all prayer. Just because our regular worship has been put on hold doesn’t mean we stop worshipping our Lord by serving one another. We are in this together. We look forward to worshipping with you, from a distance, on Sunday.
Faithfully,
The Session
