Updates Before Break

Release Date: Friday, March 22, 2023

Happy Spring Break, Room 115 Families!

What an incredible week it has been, full of warmth and fond memories as we bid farewell to Mrs. Johnson's last "official" week in Room 115. While we're undoubtedly sad to see her go, we are fortunate to know she'll still be part of our school community, lending her expertise as a substitute for Lincoln and potentially (fingers crossed) having her own classroom next school year.

I'm happy to share that report cards were emailed home this afternoon. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

As we enter this well-deserved spring break, I encourage you all to make the most of this time with your loved ones. Whether you're embarking on adventures or enjoying quiet moments at home, I hope it's a rejuvenating and fulfilling break for everyone.

Looking ahead, I'm preparing for our reunion on Monday, April 1st, as we resume our learning journey together. Until then, take care, stay safe, and have a fantastic spring break!

Thank you for your unwavering support and partnership.

SAIG (Social Academic Instructional Group) with

Mrs. Kibblesmith

Beginning last week and continuing for six weeks, we're thrilled to introduce Lincoln's social worker, Mrs. Kibblesmith, to our classroom. Each week, she will conduct a 30-minute session aimed at reinforcing our school rules and expectations. So far, Mrs. Kibblesmith has been engaging with the children on topics such as Whole Body Listening and Empathy. We are thankful she is able to take this extra time to support our class.

SNACKS!

Gentle reminder: Your child should have a daily nut-free snack. While we've had some donated snacks that have been a great help, our supply is LOW.

Please make sure your child brings a snack each day, and consider involving them in the packing process. If you're able to contribute to our "I Forgot My Snack Drawer," it would be much appreciated! Your support and donations are invaluable. Thank you!

Kindergarten T-Shirts

Each year we design a t-shirt that the students can wear to show they are the Kindergarten class of 2024!!

Below is a link to this year's shirt.

The cost is $20 and there is an estore set up for you to order your child's shirt.

Math

In math we have been working on addition and subtraction within 10. This includes representing our answers through pictures, number bonds, and number sentences. We will continue with this concept after break and then move on to Module 5 - Numbers to 20.

Latest Read Alouds

Our recent author/illustrator study has focused on Mo Willems. Last week, we explored the charming stories of Elephant & Piggie, while this week, we've been immersed in some of Mo's other captivating tales. After the break, we'll be diving into the world of Pigeon! Throughout our journey through Mo's books, we've been closely observing his clever use of word bubbles, onomatopoeia, and the seamless connection between illustrations and text.

Second Step

This week we finished our Child Protection Unit in Second Step We focused on the many Ways to Stay Safe. Home links went home the last few weeks to keep you updated on our weekly discussions. When we return from break we will continue with our traditional Second Step lessons.
