Here to report back on New Orleans! Wow! I love that city so so much. It was the first time I felt at home in a city since I left Florence. There is so much history and energy in the streets which is hard to find. (disclaimer-I have not seen very much of the states at all so send me recommendations on other cities I might love!) Blake has been there many times before so I really enjoyed going to his favorite places and trying new ones. We even got to have a visit with my cousins while we were in town.
We had the best time doing as much as we could fit in our 6 days. I think my health app said we walked close 40 miles (!!!) The residential side of town just begs to be walked so you can oogle at the architecture and peeks of lush gardens. For those that don't want to stroll quite as much, we found the trolley car and bus system to a nice way to move across town and site see while doing so!
Within the first two hours of being in town, we happened across Windsor Fine Art Gallery on Royal Street and were face to face with a few Dali and Picasso pieces. Such an unassuming spot that rotates artist like those and Rembrandt and Alphonse Mucha for sale.
The trip to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) was such a success, they have an extensive collection and the sculpture garden was a dream. Really seems like the perfect place to spend the afternoon with a picnic.
Cannot wait to plan another trip back!
