behind the scenes

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you!! Hope you are enjoying some beautiful weather and are able to gather with family and friends over this long weekend. We are headed to Lebanon for my dad's birthday then off to Colorado for wedding in Blake's family. It will be my first time out West and I am so excited!

May brought along some big news from the studio! As part of the ArtsBuild Residency, they have rented us out a studio space to be used for the duration of our time. Recently, I met up with the fellow artists for lunch in the new space to discuss our projects and exhibition potential.

I am really excited to work with Chase and Andy and look forward to inviting you to our events in the future. I am adding a link in the photo below to the ArtsBuild social media post introducing everyone with links to websites and their socials so you can follow along.

**FUN FACT** While magnolias have a long list of symbolism and spirituality tied to them, I found it interesting that in feng shui planting one in your front yard brings ample satisfaction to your life. Even more interesting is planting one in your backyard is said to bring a heavy cash flow.

....my advice would be to do both!

Here to report back on New Orleans! Wow! I love that city so so much. It was the first time I felt at home in a city since I left Florence. There is so much history and energy in the streets which is hard to find. (disclaimer-I have not seen very much of the states at all so send me recommendations on other cities I might love!) Blake has been there many times before so I really enjoyed going to his favorite places and trying new ones. We even got to have a visit with my cousins while we were in town.

We had the best time doing as much as we could fit in our 6 days. I think my health app said we walked close 40 miles (!!!) The residential side of town just begs to be walked so you can oogle at the architecture and peeks of lush gardens. For those that don't want to stroll quite as much, we found the trolley car and bus system to a nice way to move across town and site see while doing so!

Within the first two hours of being in town, we happened across Windsor Fine Art Gallery on Royal Street and were face to face with a few Dali and Picasso pieces. Such an unassuming spot that rotates artist like those and Rembrandt and Alphonse Mucha for sale.

The trip to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) was such a success, they have an extensive collection and the sculpture garden was a dream. Really seems like the perfect place to spend the afternoon with a picnic.

Cannot wait to plan another trip back!

recipe of the month

This one is so good and I have been thinking about it since the last time we made it! Not usually a turkey burger person but all the flavor makes this stand out. Which honestly was last summer because it is a really tasty warm weather meal...light, flavorful, and little spice in the sauce. Pairs super well with some sweet potato fries :)
