Let's face it, many of us view life as a challenge. We feel we are on auto-pilot and seem to be drained all the time. Many of us dread change and are ill-equipped with the tools necessary to achieve the change we desire. And when we think about pouring effort into ourselves, we wonder, "Where will I get the time?" Or "Where will I get the energy?"

 

I am here to tell you my friends, that I, too, had a similar outlook on life prior to my Breathwork Journey. Honestly, the personal development journey is one that can be summed up by explaining the difference between a cow and a buffalo... Hear me out on this one!

 

When a cow is in a field and a storm is approaching, a cow runs from the storm. The cow's fear literally causes the storm to end up chasing it. This makes the cow's experience longer, harder and more intense. The result? The cow's journey is more difficult because it is not facing its feelings. I wonder if cows feel drained?

 

Whereas, a buffalo has the natural intelligence to run through the storm. The buffalo moves into the storm making the experience quicker, easier and more manageable. The buffalo observes its feelings and embraces the opportunity to transform.

 

To have an easier time getting started, or even flowing through, the personal development journey, adopt the natural intelligence of a buffalo. Sharing in the perspective of moving into your feelings, or into the wound, leads to liberation.

"When my kids become wild and unruly, I use a nice safe playpen. When they're finished, I climb out." - Erma Bombeck. This quote, along with many others, cause us to laugh! And many of these quotes are so true, as we try to avoid the challenging behavior of children.

 

With Winter Break approaching, many of us will be surrounded by children in one form or fashion. While children are a blessing, they can also be triggering. What if this time spent with the children in your life is used to shift the triggers to ease, and even flow? What if you made a commitment to teach and model children such strategies, rather than avoiding the less-desired behavior?

 

This video was created on National Stress Awareness Day. While it is true, children can be a trigger for us, we can flow with such triggering situations by learning techniques that support our well-being and modeling such strategies for the kiddos in our lives.
