Welcome Back!

The first 2 weeks of school have been a success! The staff have been so excited to visit with our returning families and spend time with our returning students.

The children have been reviewing and working on materials from the practical life and sensorial shelves. They have also received lessons on grace and courtesy and have ventured to our outdoor classroom to enjoy the beautiful weather.

We are so excited for another school year with you and cannot wait to welcome our new students in the following weeks!

Montessori Materials in the Classroom

The Baric Tablets

The baric tablets are a sensorial material used to teach children about recognizing weight. A set is composed of several same size tablets made from different types of wood, thus varying in weight. Children practice organizing the tablets from lightest to heaviest.

The first time a child is presented with the baric tablets they practice arranging the tablets from lightest to heaviest with their eyes open. Once mastered, they then practice the same arrangement with their eyes closed.

For more information on the baric tablets, check out Trillium Montessori's article: An Introduction to the Baric Tablets by clicking the button below!
