Yes to Non Toxic Roadsides!
We are making great progress with our efforts to tell our Jackson County Commissioners it is time to greatly reduce pesticide applications on county roads! We have been attending the Commissioners' Wednesday morning meetings, and
will continue to do so until this issue is formally on their agenda.
Much gratitude to the nine people who spoke their powerful message to the Commissioners last week - our comments from the RVTV video begin at 8:00.
As of now, almost 250 people in Jackson and Josephine Counties
have signed on to show their support!
Can we get to 300 by next Wednesday?
Here's how you can help:
- Show your support by signing this short form, tell us why this is important,
and please share!
- Attend Commissioner meetings on Wednesdays: 9:30am (9:15 to sign in to speak) at 10 S. Oakdale Ave, Medford. See suggested Talking Points below.
- Live on a county road? Why not manage your own road frontage without herbicides (contact Jackson or Josephine County to be added to their no-spray lists)
- Sign up here to volunteer
- Donate to help defray costs for publicity and printing
We are proud to be working with Beyond Toxics on this initiative as part to create a Non Toxic Southern Oregon, and on a larger scale, a Non Toxic Oregon!

An Excellent Reason to Support Non Toxic Roadsides!
Thank You Hardy Seeds, for speaking up for the pollinators,
and all the farmers and seed growers in our region.
What's your reason?

Bringing Nature into Our Gardens and Yards
Sunday, December 8, 2pm - 4pm
Jackson County Fire District No 5, 5811 S. Pacific Hwy, Phoenix
Native plants are a critical component for pollinator gardens,
but there's more to know. Based on the work of Dr. Doug Tallamy, this presentation will explain why it is vitally important to grow native plants in all vegetative layers--from a ground cover to the overstory.
Lynn Kunstman is more than a Master Gardener - on her 1/4 acre lot,
she grows a huge, year-round vegetable garden, a certified Monarch Way Station, a Pollinator Garden, and a Wildlife Habitat, and rears, tags and
releases monarch butterflies every year.
Fee: $10
Maximum: 35
Register here or call 458-214-0508 to hold your spot.
Deadline to register: Thursday, December 5
See Facebook and flyer below for more information.

A Pollinator Garden at Our Office!
We made great progress in creating our very own pollinator frontscape

a pollinator demonstration and teaching garden in the side yard!

first stage happen so beautifully: Kimberly Brown, Keltie and Keith Nelson,
Cindy Harper, Dave Maher, Lynn Kunstman, Paige Farrell, Alexandra Schenk, and Free Walker, Jesse Vanderwerf and Lila!

Pollinators' Pick:
Consider the Blackberries .... and More!
Blackberries are just one of the great reasons we need Non Toxic Roadsides!
Much gratitude to Dr. Ray Seidler for beginning a crucial conversation
with this clearly articulated Guest Editorial in the Mail Tribune.
But it's not just blackberries on roadsides - what about the Talent Irrigation Ditch? Thank you, Hyiah Sirah for bringing this to our attention with your letter,
and Nina Egert for writing about it, both in the Ashland Tidings.
If you live on the "TID", or know someone who does, please let them know!
