The Blend

AUGUST 2024 EDITION

Being outdoors is one of the things that brings me happiness all year round, but I particularly love the light, warmth and energy that the sun treats us to over the summer. As well as improved circulation, better mental health and a release of stress and tension, did you know that being outdoors has another lesser-known health benefit? To explain further, I’ll need to draw on the wisdom of Albert Einstein:

“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

If you’ve spent time in the wellness and spiritual space, you may have heard people refer to increasing your frequency or raising your vibration. It’s based on the universal law that everything is energy. All living and non-living things are made up of atoms that vibrate at a specific frequency, humans included. While we have a general frequency range (a healthy human vibrates somewhere between 62 MHz and 70 MHz), this can be influenced by everything from the music we listen to and the food we eat, to the people we surround ourselves with, the environment we spend our time in and even the skincare we use.

According to an expanding body of research, disease cannot survive in a high frequency environment. This means that the more we work to raise our frequency through our environment, behaviours, thoughts, emotions and what we consume, the more resistant to developing illness we should be.

With this in mind, spending time in nature is a sure-fire way to raise your frequency, as well as provide a whole host of other amazing benefits. I was on a walk with my youngest daughter recently when she invented what we now call the ‘Rainbow Flower Game’. In the correct order, you have to find a flower for each colour of the rainbow, which is surprisingly tricky at times! It’s a fun way to become more present and really take in your surroundings whilst hopefully raising your vibration! Here are some photos taken during our most recent round.

Raise your frequency with essential oils

Collagen Boost Face Oil

Research shows that essential oils have the highest frequency of any natural substance known to man, making them one of the most powerful ways to raise our vibration.

Different oils have different frequencies, with rose essential oil emitting a vibrational frequency of 320 MHz – the highest of any essential oil. It is the closest tangible thing to love. Roses literally look, smell and feel just like love.

Skincare ingredients and their frequencies:

All of the ingredients we use in our range are derived from plants, and these natural extracts carry higher energetic frequencies than their chemical alternatives. Our Collagen Boost Face Oil, for example, contains the following high vibrational essential oils:

  • Lavender Essential Oil 118 MHz

  • Chamomile Essential Oil 105 MHz

  • Peppermint Essential Oil 78 MHz

It’s also worth noting that organic ingredients have a higher frequency than non-organic ingredients.

Grounding

This practice, also known as earthing, has gained much attention in recent years and even become a buzzword of late. Essentially, it involves standing barefoot on the ground or touching the natural environment with your hands, or other parts of your body to benefit from the Earth’s natural healing energy. It may sound a bit woo-woo for some, but research published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health claims that earthing can help reduce stress and inflammation, aid sleep, and much more. During the summer holidays, we’re planning on incorporating this simple practice into our daily routine.

How to get started

  • Put your bare feet on the earth: get outside for between 10 minutes and an hour and, with bare feet, simply walk around on a natural environment such as grass, sand or stones. Try to get out of your head and redistribute your energy throughout your body. Drink lots of water before you step outside as being hydrated affects your ability to conduct current.

  • Get your hands dirty: planting and working in the garden is also a great earthing experience. Making sandcastles on the beach also counts!

There’s something magical about connecting to the earth with your bare feet and hands, and it’s a reminder that the simple joy of the great outdoors should not be overlooked.

Ease congestion the natural way

Terahertz Gua Sha Beauty Tool

When it comes to hay fever, so many of us have been suffering particularly badly this year. Climate change is lengthening the allergy season and increasing pollen concentrations to unprecedented levels. With a single ragweed plant producing around a billion grains of pollen per season, it’s no wonder that we’re succumbing to unpleasant allergic symptoms. Facial massage can be a brilliant way of relieving the congestion and pressure that often causes stuffiness and pain. In fact, as well as improving the look and feel of our complexion, gua sha tools can be highly effective at stimulating the lymphatic system to improve its ability to remove waste and fluids from the facial area. Apply a little Collagen Boost Face Oil to your skin first as it will help the gua sha to guide easily over your face – it also contains eucalyptus leaf oil which is a natural decongestant.

This month

I've been making: chia seed jam

This 10-minute chia seed jam recipe is a new favourite of mine! It’s so simple to make and is a great way to use up a glut of berries. Unlike most jams, it’s thickened with chia rather than heaps of sugar, and it includes only healthy ingredients.

Ingredients

275g fresh chopped strawberries

2 tbsp chia seeds

1/2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)

Method

  • Heat strawberries in a saucepan over a medium to high heat, stirring occasionally until the fruit begins to break down. Mash the fruit to your desired consistency.

  • Stir in chia seeds and lemon juice. Then taste and stir in 1-2 tbsp of honey or maple syrup until it reaches your desired sweetness.

  • Remove from heat and let it cool, during which time the jam will thicken considerably. Either serve immediately or transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate for 7-10 days. It goes beautifully with scones, or alternatively add it to a Victoria sponge cake or pavlova. I also enjoy topping my breakfast yoghurt with chia jam and a sprinkling of nuts.

Notes:

The recipe also works well with raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, plums and peaches. I sometimes add in 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract if I want some extra sweetness. It’s also lovely with a pinch of spices such as cinnamon or ginger.

I've been thinking about: summer reading

Top of my August reading list is Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, which has had glowing reviews and won a host of awards to boot – as a quirky, feelgood mystery, I think it might just be the thing to read poolside!

If you haven’t yet read Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, I would highly recommend this beautifully written story of human connection, prejudice, love and loss – I simply couldn’t put down this page turner!
