Hello again, I’m back in Bristol now and hoping I’ll be able to find myself a more settled home and stable work relationship soon. Home has been a big theme of thought during my travels, and led me to reflect on the previous dwellings I’ve inhabited in the past few years. Nowhere quite felt like home, and it’s something I’m seeking now more than ever. There’s a lot to learn from transient living spaces and creating your own sense of home in yourself. I feel very resilient and also very grateful to the different people who have extended me a welcome through their own homes for different periods of time. Soon I’ll be taking my variable income to battle with Bristol’s competitive housing market, wish me luck! I know many of you want to hear more about my travels and rambling creative residency - thank you for your patience there! It’s a lot to get in to, so I’m working on sharing it all properly. During my time away, I made various small paintings, many of which reflect directly or indirectly on the theme of home and what it means to me. Much of this work was made whilst staying with my Aunt and Uncle in Tasmania who really gave me a second home I never expected to have so far from where I grew up. Expect to hear more about seeing my new body of work and reading some stories in due course! |

This month I’ll be at some craft Markets! I’ve got a suitcase filled with ceramic vases and homeware, my limited edition oracle cards, batik wallhangings, woven baskets and other little handmade pieces I can’t wait to share! |

Here are the spots I’ve confirmed I’ll be popping up at, I’d absolutely love to see you there, even if it’s just for a chat: May 6th (10am-3pm) Windmill Hill Market, Windmill Hill City Farm, Bedminster, Bristol. This Saturday will be packed with stalls, food, drink and performances at the city farm where you can see the animals too, and just a short walk from Bedminster’s shops, street art and pubs. May 14th (12-6pm) Wiper & True Spring Maker’s Market at their Old Market Taproom. This lovely venue has craft beer on tap, a sleek setting and well curated bunch of artisans that I’m very excited to join! Potentially also more TBC! |

An offering I’d like to showcase at the moment is digital illustrations, I can create a bespoke digital drawing for personal or business needs. Here’s a little portrait I made for Rukshan Yoga when I met Rukshan in Sri Lanka, we traded this for some yoga and sound healing which was fantastic. If you have an idea, please send me an email (just reply here) and we can discuss it. I try to cater to most budgets with my offerings. |

One Recommendation this month: Get out there and pick some Wild Garlic! It’s only out for a short time, and now is the time. I’m really enjoying cooking with it, so far I’ve used it in: pasta, soup, and in a pesto on toast with fresh tomatoes. Please remember to pick individual leaves from across the patch when you harvest this plant. It enables them to grow back healthy next year and not disturb the natural habitat you find them in. Look in the dappled shade in your local woodland or wild areas of parks.
Thanks so much for reading, look forward to seeing you in the next edition! |
